May I ask, is that an example of a non-color-breaking crease? Or does that crease break the color? And I'm assuming that it's a printer's defect....

I have had 3 copies of this book pass through my hands. I think they all had printer creases. So it might be common on this issue. It doesn't break color.

Nice books Mick. Besides the Rock, she's my favorite DC

war hero. It sure is tough finding copies with her on the cover in

a decent grade.

These kinds of creases are really common on the DC war books between 1970 and 1975... especially early issues of Weird War. Also on some of the horror titles. I've heard it said that the non-hero DC titles got thinner cover stock than the hero books.

 

Nice copies! That is one of my very favorite issues. Nothing but goodness in that one to be sure!

This copy of GI Combat 66 (1st pseudo-Sgt Rock) that I just won for 99¢ seems to have some of those creases too.

I think Heath did draw Marie in a couple of Rock and Haunted Tank stories.

 

Man... no one drew women like Heath. Check our the Joan d'Arc character in Our Army at War #247... it's positively cheesecake.

The Drucker on the inside of the SSWS 86-89 are as outstanding as Heath. Spectacular work from Drucker just before he got scooped by MAD. Heath DID and still DOES draw a nice Marie, though.

I'll definitely grant you that it woulda been over the top to have had a Heath cover on one of the original SSWS. Maybe DC just didn't want to set him loose. . .strong possibility that it would've been rejected by the CCA.
