I think for me it'd be a combination of $$$'s but also..hey look I've got one 9.8, let's get some more.. Which just wouldn't happen in those early ASMs.

And of course, as you said, you could sell it for a couple 9.4's. Anyways, I'm not here to blow people away I just want NM-/NM books for the early ASMs. If someone else has a full run of 9.8's, good for them. I have what I want tongue.gif

I'm not saying I wouldn't want ANY 9.8's, I prefer 9.8's on moderns and I like to mix 9.6's and 9.8's of bronze books...but the S.A. ultra high grade just don't interest me..

Brian I agree with you, but just sometimes it is nice to have a few books that you know are the best you can get. I like buying DC's for that very reason. I have a couple of SA Bats in 9.8 which didn't break the bank.

The Hulk #122 was an opportunity I couldn't pass up and I purchased more for investment reasons. I will have no hesitation in flipping it if the market moves positively for this book.

Well for me personally, hard to find early silver like pre 1963,I won't go lower than a 9.0 for titles like Hulk,JIM and some FF's like 1-9 but on #4 I'd want a 9.4,I don't need a Hulk 5 in 9.6, On post 63-Pre-65 nothing higher than a 9.4 will do,I don't need a ASM #8 in 9.6 or a #10 in 9.8,I would however take a 9.0 on the #11 but nothing lower than a 9.4 on the rest under #20 and anyone after that,I don't care about except #27 and #28,everything else can burn.

For my permanent collection, Post-1964, 9.4 is my favorite grade. It's got the super high appeal without the insanity that 9.6's and 9.8's can be in. 1962-1963, there usually isn't much choice, but I also look for 9.0+.

But like Mushroom said, it would be nice to own a couple of insane, top copy books.

Yea if i picked up a FF 5 in 9.8,pretending it came back from CGC as that grade,it'd be a bit nice to own, kinda hard not to sell it considering you'd be rich once you sold it (well you;d feel like you are anyway) cloud9.gif

Seriously speaking, I wouldn't be able to hold that anymore than I could hold my wad in a bed full of beautiful ladies. grin.gif

I'm surprised none of the classic Schomburg Cap covers are up on the gallery. There's still some nice ones, but none of the phenomenal ones..

Btw, 27_laughing.gif what the hell..? What's this doing here?

Hey Murph maybe you missed this phenominal Schomburg cap:

This is an all time classic. I need to pick this up before my collection can ever be called complete.

doesn't that book look a lot better than a 7.5? i wonder what the back cover looks like.

Good question. Look at the spine. Not a single crease in the blacks which is rare. they mention cream to off white on the label. How many grades does CGC take off for that paper quality?

WHOA, I haven't looked at the gallery for a few months...they've added a TON of 9.4 and above copies that weren't in there before.

In response to getting a restored book signed to get the signature series label...somebody, somewhere asked that question a number of months back and Borock said restored books are ineligible for the signature series.

i think all the books in the gallery were all ones that people paid the 3 dollars extra for imaging. three of them are books i had graded and they are ones that CGC imaged for me (my scanner sucks) i recognized them because the one hulk 181 i had graded and flipped a few weeks later had a light spot in yellow in ULC. they graded it a 6.0. there is also a 7.0 and an xmen #94 7.0 that were from the same submission batch, all imaged after grading. maybe some of the ones that are in better grade of certain books have not been imaged by CGC hence no pic in the gallery

A lot of the HG SA's are Comgeeks. He personally takes his books to Florida and CGC normally have somebody waiting to scan his books for him.

Not sure why they didn't scan his TOS #40 9.6 but I certainly would like to see that puppy up there.
