i think you guys are being too harsh on a tough black cover. seems like at least an 8.0 if not an 8.5 to me

Agree...nice book! I think the top edge "wrinkles" are from a dull production cut...I wouldn't factor them in. Solid 8.0 here.

They are production related. I have a bunch of books with similar defects, from the golden age to the bronze age.

 

7.5 for the back cover tanning though.
