TORONTO COMIC BOOK FAN SUPER SHOW

SUNDAY, AUGUST 20, 2006

Due to unanticipated demand from fans, dealers, retailers and pros, a Toronto Comic Book Fan Super Show will be held on Sunday, August 20th, 2006 at the Toronto Hilton Hotel.

This late summer event is a fun, low cost, casual affair for fans of the medium and collectors - a chance to search for graphic novels and back issues before heading back to school or work after another beautiful Canadian summer.

The Toronto Comic Book Fan Super Show is being held at Toronto’s Hilton Hotel, located at 145 Richmond Street West (the South East corner of Richmond Street and University Avenue), just one block south of Osgoode Subway station on the Yonge-University-Spadina line. The show is being held in the Hilton’s Toronto I Ballroom and Varley Conference Room, which are located on the (lower) Convention Level of the hotel.

It is no coincidence that the show is being held at the Hilton, as the Toronto Hilton at University and Richmond has been the site for many great one day comic book shows in Toronto for over 20 years.

What is a comic book show without guests? The Toronto Comic Book Fan Super Show has already got a great line up of professional guests including:

Ken Lashley (artist, The Flash: The Fastest Man Alive)

Stuart Immonen (artist, Nextwave: Agents of H.A.T.E.)

Cameron Stewart (artist, Seven Soldiers: The Manhattan Guardian)

Francis Manapul (artist, Necromancer)

J. Torres (writer, Teen Titans Go!, Love as a Foreign Language)

Eric Kim (artist, Love as a Foreign Language)

Chip Zdarsky (cartoonist, Prison Funnies, The National Post)

Ramon Perez (cartoonist, Butternut Squash)

MC Sean Ward (Sean Ward’s Electric Comics Freakout)

Arthur Dela Cruz (Kissing Chaos)

Andy Belanger (Dead End 66)

PLUS the stars of Ed’s Night Party - hosts Liana K and Ed the Sock will be making a special appearance promoting their comic book Ed & Red’s Comic Strip and Ed’s Night Party Merchandise

And this is just to start. Watch for some exciting guest announcements in the weeks leading up to the Toronto Comic Book Fan Super Show!

Admission to the event is $5. Kids 12 and under get in free when accompanied by an adult. Hours are 11 am – 6 pm.

The two rooms are adjacent - the admission tables will be outside in between them - you'll need a wristband to get into them... but yes... two rooms means you will have to leave one to go to the other... one is the dealer room and the other is the guest room.

60 dealer tables - 20 dealers, plus 1 publisher, 1 school and 1 awards organization.

Maximum space allowed for a dealer was 6 tables to increase the variety of sellers and product available and make this a larger community event.

The dealers represented provide a nice variety of material, from gold/silver/bronze/copper/modern back issues (including the latest hot comics and variants), comic book supplies, manga, anime, toys, novelties, statues and original art... not to mention graphic novels, the single most requested item at the Paradise Comicon last April.

3rd Quadrant Comics

Academy Comics

All New Comics

The Beguiling

Biljan/Gleberzon/Matzkin toys, comics and art.

Blue Beetle Comics

Cyclone Comics

The Death Collector

Haggen, Wes

Hairy Tarantula

Kewl Collectibles

Kool Collectibles

Leger, Guy

Paradise Comics

Understreet Comics

The Watcher

Wong, Danny

Yes, we've expanded!

Today we received word that the hold on Ballroom Toronto II had been released and now it's ours baby!

With the addition of the second ballroom we are now enlarging the current floor plan and moving the guests and artists alley into the main room! This has also allowed us to add 10 (yes only 10) additional dealer tables! Making a total of 70 dealer tables.

So yes Jason, that means no leaving one room to go to another, it's all self-contained.

And guess what? 3 of the newly added tables are already claimed. So now we are no longer sold out... for now... with 7 tables up for grabs. Two of them are corner tables. Corners are $150 and come with two six foot tables. Regular tables are $100 and come with just one six foot table. These won't last long...
