Images were rescanned but the spine still isn't very visible. Any ideas on how to get a better shot of the spine without damaging it?

Looks cleaned and pressed, possible color touch and staple tampering. All of this is impossible to tell from scans alone but something appears off. How long have you owned the book?

Yeah can't see the top left corner or spine...what gives?

Yep....we don't grade scans that have been digitally trimmed, either.

In response to tomega's comments, I've owned the book for about 15 years but I bought it from a dealer at a show.

 

Now that I look at it, it does look like it may have been restored, especially the color touch up in the X. The pressing makes sense because the spine is almost too tight for a comic of this age (which is why it doesn't show up in the scan). And the staples also seem out of whack. GOOD CATCH!

not sure what all the staple talk is about - placement??

 

it does look like some color touch up in the X, though.

 

i also don't think it looks pressed as there are some noticeable deep creases that should have been removed with a good pressing.

 

all-in-all a nice presentable copy.............maybe a purple 6.0???

Did you check for bleed-though on the inside front cover?

I looked at the color in the X again but still can't figure it out. Almost looks like eraser marks. Color does not bleed-through to inside front cover.
