Hi, I'm new to this thread ( and Collector's Society). Sadly, unlike most of you, I'm not collecting, but liquidating. I've had many of my comics from day one. I've chosen to slab some of my books to remove doubt from the equation. Not that I have 100% confidence in CGC, but it seems better than the alternatives. This forum seems prime for attracting true Spidey fans. I can think of no better home for my books.

I'm requesting your opinions as to how I should/could proceed. I have a complete run from 1-100 in varying grades, but realistically doubt that has any value. Everyone is looking for a few missing books, right?

I have only submitted a dozen or so books to CGC, and I'm not convinced of the value on submitting books under $100. So, registering my entire collection is rather misleading, since it seems only graded books are included.

I welcome any comments or advice. I'll gladly share images of any of my books .

Thanks. Joe

I would strongly agree that books with less than $100 should not be submitted...that's actually about borderline as your cost for slabbing will be at least $35/book...

Post for starters issues 1-10 in the PGM-book Thread and we'll help with the grades and values...once the price is right for both seller and buyer, ASM always gets snapped up in 24-48 hours...especially for issues 1-50... :headbang:

24-48 Hours? Make that 24-48 minutes, if that, especially if they are priced propperly. Spideys are typically good sellers in that range...just ask trmoore54, he's sold me quite a few in my collection...all his under coppies.

I appreciate both your comments. I suppose "properly priced" is a relative issue. Proper to whom? While there are probably many interested buyers on these forums, the question is, is this the best place for ME to sell my books? I'll spend some time in the for sale forum for perspective. The PGM book thread is a great tool, and fun. I don't know the guidelines and do not wish to abuse the thread. How often or how many books is acceptable? As for ASM1-10, 7 are slabbed, some in transit back to me. They range from 3.5-8.5. I'll probably rescan and create a collection when they get here. That seems to be an efficient way. Again, thanks.

PGM-book protocol...List no more than 3 books in any 24 hour period...don't bump your books back to Page 1 more often than once every 24 hours, a maximum of 3 bumps per book. List one book per post.

Another way to post, especially if you're posting ASM 1-10 is through photobucket, check the 10 scans and then go to the bottom right of the Homepage and click on "Generate HTML and IMG code" and then click on (highlight) "IMG clickable thumbnails for message boards - recommended" and cut and paste into your post.

As for the "right price" I'd accept full market value for early CGC-graded/slabbed ASM and you should get that here on the boards...75% OSPG discount for raw (ASM 1-50) is a good Ask Price starting price, especially for mid-grade...if I truly felt the book was 8.0 or better, I would guarantee the book to the buyer and try to get 90% OSPG/FMV...figure about 50% OSPG for raw ASM 51-100 except for the keys which should command 75% or perhaps better...GOOD LUCK! :headbang:

Ok so I'm TOTALLY new to this forum! I'm trying to sell my personal childhood collection also. I have a slabbed ASM 28 9.0 I also have Incredible Hulk 181 Slabbed at a 9.0, where/what is 'The PGM book Thread'? and how much should these go for?

Thanks, and sorry for my ignorance?!?

The last sale on a ASM 28 9.0 went for around $1950

Sweet!! Was that on here?! and did they flat out say they wanted that much or was it an auction? I'm obviously looking for the biggest return I can get! =)

Thanks for all your help so far, selling these has been VERY frustrating! The only 'real' responses i've gotten from 'buyers' online was from Heritage Comics, and I'm not too enthused about all the fees intittled with that...

You don't happen to know what a Hulk 181 9.0 went for too do you??

= PGM Forum. I'd HIGHLY recommend building a poll with grades as the choices. I've had a little too much of my homebrew to walk you through the directions on how to do this though (surprised my spell check hasn't gone wild already--maybe I need more homebrew ;) ).

Anyhow, sounds to me like you've got one killer personal collection to sell so I'd also consider investing a whopping $7 into a one month subscription to GPA. If you don't know what this is, just punch in GPA + Comics into google and it'll get you there. This site tracks all the Fair Market Values (FMV) for slabbed books. Since it sounds like you've got some heavy hitters... this might help.

Best of luck and welcome to the boards. Avoid the sales marketplace (you'll lose your wallet--if you're still a comic collector that is!)
