Paratrooper covers RUN

1,682 posts in this topic

I'm enjoying this "theme" run a lot.

Seriously, what would really happen if someone started firing an automatic weapon while parachuting, as they are on these and several other covers? The old "equal and opposite force" law would swing them backwards uncontrollably, right?

Keep 'em flyin'!

A kick from a M-16 is not that great, and when fired in mid-air one would see no perceptable occilation.

Really!?! That just goes to show that I may know about F = ma, but I know nothing about parachuting or firing weapons.

Is the objection that grim'n'gritty heroes firing an automatic weapon with each hand would have to have the strength of Superman to keep their arms from jerking backward also not true? I've read it more than once.

Well, my experience is limited to firing modern fire arms. The weapons used in the comics are mostly those issued during WWII. So I guess it is possible that those weapons had a greater kick than the ones that I am used to.
