Does this Action #43 look weird to anyone else?

Despite the "I'm selling grandpa's books" *spoon*, doesn't the "book" pictured look a bit odd? It doesn't seem thick enough, and the top half of the spine and the top edge of the book have a strange wave to them.

 

Any thoughts?

The book looks flat as a pancake..either its depth can't be determined by the angle of the shot, or someone has been practicing their pressing skills and got carried away. As for the "wave" effect on some edges of the book, it can be caused when using a digital camera, and not saving the image to its full size. I have had this same thing happen to me with some of my digital pics, and they have turned out with the same wavy look as this book appears to have.

I agree Jeff, very weird.

 

I also find it kind of alarming that the seller hasn't mastered adding a hit counter to the auction.

 

It is certainly a poor picture.

 

What's up with the dates on the hit counters? Is this one of those new 40+ day auctions? insane.gif I guess he has relisted multiple times and doesn't remove the old counters from the description?

Apparently granddaddy had a supply of comic bags and backing boards. All of the newer comics are from his dad's collection, who also bagged and boarded everything. Apparently "dad" has some pretty recent comics too.

 

Smells like a scam.

I just went browsing in the seller's completed auctions. This past auction of his grandpa's Action #1 ought to relieve everyone's concerns...

No, today was Newport's centennial celebration, and I spent the whole day doing a book signing of my postcard book. Had a great time!

 

I emailed the seller of the Action #43 yesterday asking for a back cover scan, and also if I could pick the book up if I won the auction(he's less than an hour away). He hasn't responded.

 

I actually don't want the book. I'm quite happy with my 9.0. yay.gif
