Flame Thrower War Covers: Post Here

One sub-genre i have always a fascination with is war-oriented flame thrower covers. The teen buys these books, showing him what he can do once he joins the army, This US Marines #3 from 1944 is the earliest one I know of.

The following year, the Famous Funnies people placed one on this Heroic Comics #28 from 1945

Then Vin Sullivan with his M.E. publishing empire came out with THE UNITED STATES MARINES #7 in 1972. It is one of the most violent covers i have ever come across:

The same year ACG came out with SPY-HUNTERS when this Cold War title converted to Korean War stories for the final portion of the run:

and in 1953 the Famous Funnies people re-visited the genre again in HEROIC COMICS 88 in 1953

Those Heroic covers are new to me, cool stuff.

 

Two of my favorites are Battle Cry #1 and War #11,

I'll post them and a couple of others later if someone doesn't beat me to it.

While one of the best, i think Master 35 precedes it (although not actually a "military" flamethrower cover).
