What do you mean in the post by data entry error?

 

Assuming that Snatch Comics 1 Third Printing wasn't actually printed in 1900...

then whoever at CGC put 1900 in the " census year field" must have made an error.

 

Actually, 1900 is used several times in the database, in error,

but this is the only example that affects a CGC 10.0 copy.

Hmmm... it looks like the Barker's "Komic" Picture Souvenir

books are listed as "No Date" (1900).

 

I've excluded those "No Date" 1900's from my search

since it's including books such as Zap Comics,

a few reprints and variant books, as well as some foreign prints.

 

Looks like the Platinum Age books you're wanting to see are buried

in there somewhere.

When I saw this list, some of the toughest books I knew of were missing from it. Example--Fantastic Four #18 has 1 copy in 9.4 or better out of 49 submitted, which would put it at the very top of your list. Any idea why it didn't show up in your query?

The sort was based on books submitted in the 8.0+ range.

 

FF #18 only had 15 books that meet that criteria, of which 1 was graded 9.6.

There are 49 submitted, but with only 15 graded at CGC 8.0 or higher,

the other 34 didn't have a shot at being "high grade".

 

Still 1 out of 15 is 6.67%... so you can see where that might fit in the list.

It's funny how hard it is to get a book off the shelf a grade of 9.9+. Yet you look at the older books and simply wonder in awe how the books are in such great condition. Kinda like the story of that Thor 10.0 book. Amazing.

I'm "cutting-and-pasting" the results from Microsoft Access.

 

For those who don't already know about SQL,

it's a "language" that allows databases to produce results

in answer to specific questions (queries)...

 

Such as... "How many CGC 10.0's are there?"

The SQL would look like:

Select count(*) from comicgrades where g100 > 0;

 

Of course, tougher questions require tougher coding...

but that's the general idea. The results more-or-less look like

an Excel "table"... so I change the SQL to insert comments like

X " universal copies out of " Y "submissions, making " X/Y*100 " %"

 

Since the database is writing my "sentences" for me...

it's just a cut-and-paste on the sentences at that point.

 

But... I'm sure that's more than anyone really wants to know.
