I'm surprised too about the grade.. a 9.2!?! Wow, that's awesome for u Nik. I can't see how that crease in the corner made it a 9.2. Oh well.. I guess you're blessed

No offense, but CGC blew that one. I guess I have MINT raw comics to submit to CGC this weekend. It's still a 7.5/8.0 to me.

 

Out of all the competent graders in this contest , only 2 were correct?

Those are not good odds imho.

 

I applaud Nik for throwing us off our game, but man.. 9.2? Post that book in the grading forum.

Wow. Looked like an 8.5 from the scans, but I went with 9.0 because of the Nikos bump. Now I have to go TWO grades higher?

 

I need to start subbing stuff. If I'd owned that book I would have sold it as a VF.

 

Here is the BA Detective 7.5 I used for comparison.

I emailed Nik that "it's an 8.0 (no matter what CGC graded it as )".

 

But then I started thinking about how nice the back cover was and knew I should have gone higher.

 

Then, I saw Nik's response.

i think that sounds right....

i was thinking low end VF... and got even lower from there...

not sure how this book is a whole lot better than this one which got a 7.0

but this grade at 9.2 makes me think about how grading was done before comic grading companies...

 

after all, these are paper books, not coins... so i don't know....

I'm sorry, i can't leave this one alone, I am happy for you nik

but what i just don't get is how you can get something graded as NEAR MINT - with the 2 prominent dings at top of the FC and that top staple creasing which seems pretty strong.... just trying to understand comic grading, that's all....

But I will say this:

 

People always seem to grade someones elses book alot harder then their own

As usual in these grading contests, I have come to the conclusion that I would have done better just picking 9.4 for every comic than actually trying to assign an accurate grade.

But I'd probably be winning if I had not used my brain and just blindly put 9.4 on everything. That's seems to happen in every grading contest.
