Avengers #177 page 29 Splash. The Penultimate page in the Korvac

Saga.

Korvac lies dead in the middle of a devasted room surrounded by the

destryoed members of the Avengers and The Guardians of the Galaxy.

 

only Thor and Moondragon have survived the carnage. I have been

trying to reassemble this book for some time and Jon has been a great

help -- first in pointing me towards other pages out there, and

finally in agreeing to sell me this gem. He was a true gentleman,

putting up with long time payments and generally being very easy to

deal with. It wasn't easy to do this and I had to shed a lot of

other pages to make it happen, but as someone posted on this board a

few months ago, sometimes pages like this put other pieces in your

collection inbto perspective real quick

 

The really cool thing about the original art for this particualr

splash is the detail -- the published version had all of the dead

bodies colored a "aqua blue" -- quite possibly the worst coloring job

I have ever seen on a published page -- literally looked like the

colorist didn't care and that the only criteria was how humanly fast

could the job get done.

 

Take a look at the disaster that has befallen our heroes -- to keep

this in perspective for you non-Avengers fans from back then -- this

PAGE had been building up for 14 months!!! Yes Months!

Vision

Hawkeye

Ms. Marvel

Captainb Marvel

Quicksilver

Scarlet Witch

Iron Man

Hercules

The entire Guardians of the Galaxy (except for Vance Astro who died

on a different page in my gallery)

and Wonderman.

 

Wow --

 

Years of searching+Months of Raising funds+ a good guy to deal with=a

true grail for this hobby.

Great page -- one I remember fondly from my youth. I agree the pencils and inks are better than the colored page, which seemed hastily done.
