It seems a bunch of folks got together to make this a comic book weekend! Hope everyone had fun. During our gathering there was a little accident and a couple of my boxes spilled.

Amazingly, some of the books leaned themselves up against boxes, while other spread out into a nice display across the floor. I'm still a little bit bewildered......................

naturally the lower graded red raven is mine. as nice as the books are, the thing i'm most excited about is the back of my head--i don't see it very often, and i'm so glad to know i'm not thinning!!

I told you that spray on stuff looked natural!

you'd know, since in high school your hairline was voted most likely to recede.

Looks like hazardous waste to me. You need a seasoned professional like myself to clean that up. wink.gif

Would you be wearing a spandex haz-mat suit? ('cause that would be something I wouldn't want to see!)

Well here is the result but I must say that this is he best 6.0 I have ever seen. I do believe that CGC was over the top with the grade deductions given the somewhat minor defects. Christo_pull_hair.gif

I think I said it would probably be a 6.0, no? That bc damage is more than "minor", as nice as the book presents.

What did you buy it as?

Took me about 2 years to find a copy of this issue. But the wait was worth it!!! It is as if it was just bought off the stands!

What a great cover. I really like promotional comics as well. Any idea who did the cover art?

If I got a slabbed 6.0 in the mail and it looked like that, I would krap myself. A perfect example of why technical grade should take a back seat to freshness, presentation and eye appeal. Luckily I am one of the few who sees things that way, which has allowed me to get a whole lot of nice books at a fraction of the "high grade" price.

Anyway, big kudos to Ken (Inaflash) for this one. Thanks a lot! hail.gif

You're welcome. If I did not already have a copy of that book, I would have kept it myself.

I went to a pulp con today with Adamstrange, Centaurman, Moondog and Klozd24seven. Only bought one cheap pulp, but I did find this beauty for a decent price. This was the number one book on my wantlist....can't believe I found it there. The colors and perspective on this cover are just outstanding. Easily a top 5 Fine cover in my opinion.

Cool. thumbsup2.gif Wish I could have been there this year.

It was fun. Going through some of Adamstrange's books was a highlight. They are even more impressive in person than they are in his scans.

Thanks, I had a blast as well. Nothing like getting a little geekfest going looking at Centaurman's Centaur's, Pedigreeman's Pedigree's, and the few choice items you brought.

Another issue that required searching. I needed a cover in nice shape so I can frame it on my office wall. As many of you likely know, Charles Moulton (a/k/a William Marston), the creator of WW, was also the "father" of the modern day lie detector device. I've spent several years challenging the federal government's pre-employment polygraph program because it is based on as much fiction as our darling WW.

Interestingly, other than the cover and the introduction to one of the stories featuring a similar image, there is no mention of the lie detector device in the entire book!

Hmmm...

Comics look nice in those things.

So, I suppose those are the Mylar whatchamacallits and backing boards I've heard so much about??

I think I should give them a try. 893scratchchin-thumb.gif

That's a beautiful copy Mark. Congrats! What do the insides look like? I have never seen it before and wonder how boys and girls can help win the war.

A couple more pics from the 9th annual Timely Geek Fest............

You really should post this in "events" so the rest of us can stop by. sumo.gif

I thought about that. But our "event" really is about the books, so I figured it was better served on this thread. Face it, anyone looking at these photos could care less about the back of Mr. Parker's head (other than Mr. Parker). They really are just focused on two copies of Red Raven #1.

Congrats Mark. There were 2 copies on eBay over the last month. This must be the first one that sold. 893applaud-thumb.gif

Go ahead and show the back cover with those coupons. That'll give Mr. BedRock an idea of the content. What's the content anyway? popcorn.gif

And on a lower note, here's the book that got me excited today yay.gif
