gator

I don't have my list here. I'll check when I get home. It is graded though.

cool...I guess the bigger question is, it was my understanding you bought this collection to resell, correct?...if so, when might you begin to offer?

Told you this forum has a habit of relaxing any discipline in your collection focus.

Truer words have never been spoken(or typed). (thumbs u

I don't know, I've stayed pretty focused on my primary goal: HG Sub-Mariners.

And I've broadened my horizons a bit with a nice assortment of Schomburg covers, ...and some misc Good Girl covers, and a couple of DCs, some Fiction House war covers, and...

...oh, who am I kidding, thanks to you guys, my collection is all over the place. :headbang:

Hasn't affected me at all. I've always been all over the place. :insane:

Williamsport. This is best graded copy if I recall. Merry Christmas to everyone.

Those were some sharp-looking horror books that you posted! :applause:

Merry Christmas to you as well!

Another offbeat Dell reader. I'm not sure it rates "have a cigar". How about "have a slightly damp cigarette butt with a few good puffs left in it"?

Gene Autry Comics, July 1953.

Photo cover with Gene Autry "feeding his goat."

Is that a euphemism?

More on the Short Bus thread if you're interested.

That is incorrect. I didn't buy it to sell. I bought it to have a nice golden age collection. I had sold off a great collection my Father bought me in 1968 when I was 12 years old. I found the collection. He paid for it. Runs of superman abd Batman, All Star, you name it and it was un there. No Superman #1 or Batman #1 though. Thet all seemed to start at issue 3. When I was in college, (like a dope,) I sold many of the books and traded a lot away for EC comics. My Dad eventually got Alzheimer Disease. One day when he was in the later stages of his illness, we were in my car traveling to a football game which I was scheduled to shoot. At that point he was already pretty much unable to talk. He looked at me and clear as day asked, "Do you still have those comics I bought you?". I didn't have the heart to tell him that they were long gone. That day will stick in my head forever. Buying The Williamsport collection was a tribute to the faith he had in me as a kid. That's the truth.

Back to your question though. Some of the books that I wasn't interested in or that were lower to mid grade however, were sold off during the last two years. The bulk of the collection I still have left including my runs of Superman and Batman. In there, I have at least 500 CGC graded copies and most of the other comics which were 7.0 or better or had an overhang which prohibited CGC from slabbing them. If someone really wants something they are certainly welcome to make me an offer. Some books I could freely part with. The others, like Superman and Batman may stay in my collection. I may do something with Supe's and Bat's from #101 up. In

that area I still have 15 or so of the best graded copies. I haven't quite yet decided what type of venue I will use to do that. I didn't really buy them to sell in all honesty. I just really wanted a nice collection. Unfortunately, you can't keep EVERYTHING. Plus, I spent our retirement on the books so my wife will have my head if I don't at least get that portion back someday. I hope that answers your question.

fair enough...I likely would have done the same thing...bought them, keep the books I wanted, and part with the rest...I just misunderstood the intention of the purchase, so I had to ask...

This is quite a story. I just couldn't go on posting in this thread without acknowledging this somehow. Congrats on your acquisition. (I'm late to the party, but this post got my attention.)

This arrived today and I couldn't be happier. It's my first pedigree purchase. It's also in a 3-way tie for top of the census at 9.0. Boy Comics 27 Crowley Copy

Nice Rob :golfclap: ...l'm a big fan of Biro, and of most of his covers (including bullet riddled trains!).

agreed...biro's early centaur work is very distinctive....and while it is not everett or gustavson, etc, it has its charm
