Jack, sorry to quote this for the dozenth time but I would love to know more about this story. I notice that they refer to the nurse as Russian in the caption. I can't remember ever seeing a WWII story with a sympathetic Russian main character before. Are there further references to her nationality in the story, or is it a fairly generic war story? Any chance we could see another page or two?

Very strongly identified as Russian. It's more of a fact piece than a generic war story.

Since it was only four pages total, I scanned the rest.

Amazing for them Russkies to be heroes in comic books, when just a few years later they'd be vilified in the Cold War comics.

So, those are women? No one would accuse that of being good OR bad girl art;) Thanks for scanning, Jack!

No, those are paratroopers. They all look like that, regardless of gender.

(I sure am glad Sharon made that comment before any men saw the scans.)

Thanks for scanning, Jack!

Hold on. I thought that you had READ this book before you sent it! Did the scans at least look vaguely familiar?

Yeah. (shrug) I wouldn't mind them being drawn a bit more "girly" but still a cool story.

Love that robot cover. I always wanted a recreation of the Sunday strip too.

Great material guys!! Is the sunday page adapted from the actual comic??

Speaking of Superman and robots, i saw a strip reprinted in that old "SUPERMAN: 30's to the 70's" book (i think), and it had clark and lois going to see a Superman cartoon, with giant robots, and clark kept trying to get lois out of the theater so she wouldn't see his identity.

Anyone know what comic book that was from? was a really cool story.

That cartoon story was from Superman 19, entitled Superman, Matinee Idol. Below is the reprint from Superman 183. It is a nifty story with the mad scientist from the cartoons and giant robots (always a favorite of mine).

Maybe you should do that more often. I can never find these books. :D

I agree though that the cover on this one kinda sucks. But what about the interior???

Any sci-fi or little nemo???

No Sci-fi or nemo, mostly if not all western stories about a dude named The Phantom Rider. and some funny animal stories. lol what are the odds, it also has a paratrooper panel in it. and a guy named Brad Donovan. But I was say 75% western.
