BangZoom
Here's from Prize 24, a Green Lama story. It invokes the treachery of Pearl Harbor and some poetic justice. The art is by Jack Binder (?). Love the Green Llama art! - "Richard Foster" is Jack Binder? Richard Foster is the author of the story. Foster was the pen name of Ken Crossen whose career included stints as publisher, editor, and writer. Some of his comic book credits include: Batman, Newsboy Legion, Superman, Captain Marvel, Green Lama and Human Torch.
rjpb
thanks for the info - unusual for a writer to be credited without the artist on a GA book. But a perusal of the wikipedia entry indicates that Crossen created the character for the pulps - so it makes sense. Apparently there was also a radio show. I also discovered that Green Lama is a practicing Buddhist - the first Buddhist superhero?

Why? 1) BZ: It's another story by Harris Francis Campbell who drew the King of Darkness story 2) Jack: Sodium cells sensitive to light. Can't beat that. You should feel a kinship with this Scientific Detective 3) rjpb: here's an earlier Buddhist "super-villain". The same Mantra is used in this story: Om Mani Padme Hum as in the Green Lama. My money is on the fact that this is scripted by Crossen. This came out in Dec. 1939 (in Keen Detective Funnies v. 2 # 12) before the first appearance of the Green Lama. In all, this is a wowser of bringing separate threads together!
BangZoom
Thanks Scrooge. I like the linking of all these posts. Here's my contribution. I don't have a scan of V2 #12 handy, but here's a group shot that pictures it (middle row, second to the right).

Scrooge
BZ, at times, I keep on forgetting you own every GA comic book Do you have any other Prize Comics you could post. They are rarely shown (same as that Green Mask Jon posted and I didn't remember ever seeing).

BangZoom
Do you have any other Prize Comics you could post. Sure. Next time I'm on that floor of the warehouse, I'll dig something up for you. Probably later today. In the mean time, how about a Double Detective pulp, featuring the Green Lama. BangZoom
Hey BZ have you started to switch to mylars and fullbacks yet? I thought I recall you posting that you were going to give this a shot? I did this group of Top-Notch Comics and then lost interest.
Silver Surfer
It can be time consuming tedious work but man do the books show nice in them. Will be worth the effort to keep going. (thumbs u
BangZoom
The comic books look extra nice in mylar sleeves but they're so stiff I'm afraid I'll end up damaging a comic if I want to take them out to look at the stories.

Silver Surfer
BZ maybe your better not show those books in mylars because now I want to add a few Blackhood issues to my collection (like I don't spend enough already). Man they look sharp.
