Theagenes
There were other things happening in 1936...Thrilling Wonder Stories carried a comic-book feature: Zarnak. Art by Max Plaisted Max Plaisted is also remembered as being the artist for one of Harry Donenfeld's earliest comic features, Diana Daw, that appeared in the November 1934 Spicy Adventure Stories . Wow, fun read! I'd love to see more of these pulp comic strips.

The Black Hand ®
I love Cooper too and of course you're right. That was a great continued story, with Hitler as Satan and the Green Ghoul character.

BangZoom
Sally the Sleuth by Adolphe Barreaux made her first appearance in Spicy Detective Stories, November 1934. This and the Diana Daw strip that ran in Spicy Adventure Stories were the first two comic features published by Harry Donenfeld, who found greater success when he started publishing Batman and Superman. Scrooge
And the plot of Sally the Sleuth: what a great display of craftsmanship. The girl is undressed by the 5th panel!

TheEyeSees
WOW... this cover is quite unreal. The expressions are really out there!! The skin tone is painted amazingly ... really "wet"!! (sorry, this is the artist, not the perv, in me talking!)
Blind Owl
Love this stuff BZ!!! These Spicy pulps are incredible. All the covers on this entire run are so expressive. They are not equaled anywhere that I've seen (but those Brundage Wierd Tales are close).

BB-Gun
Did these guys admire each others work or was this an editor's request? bb Schomburg didn't mind using another artist idea but he could also update the picture.
