Here's from Prize 24, a Green Lama story. It invokes the treachery of Pearl Harbor and some poetic justice. The art is by Jack Binder (?).

Love the Green Llama art! - "Richard Foster" is Jack Binder?

Richard Foster is the author of the story.

Foster was the pen name of Ken Crossen whose career included stints as publisher, editor, and writer.

Some of his comic book credits include: Batman, Newsboy Legion, Superman, Captain Marvel, Green Lama and Human Torch.

thanks for the info - unusual for a writer to be credited without the artist on a GA book. But a perusal of the wikipedia entry indicates that Crossen created the character for the pulps - so it makes sense.

Apparently there was also a radio show. I also discovered that Green Lama is a practicing Buddhist - the first Buddhist superhero?

Allright, this one is for BZ, rjpb and Jack (and everyone else of course). Why?

1) BZ: It's another story by Harris Francis Campbell who drew the King of Darkness story

2) Jack: Sodium cells sensitive to light. Can't beat that. You should feel a kinship with this Scientific Detective

3) rjpb: here's an earlier Buddhist "super-villain". The same Mantra is used in this story: Om Mani Padme Hum as in the Green Lama. My money is on the fact that this is scripted by Crossen. This came out in Dec. 1939 (in Keen Detective Funnies v. 2 # 12) before the first appearance of the Green Lama.

In all, this is a wowser of bringing separate threads together!

BZ, at times, I keep on forgetting you own every GA comic book doh! Do you have any other Prize Comics you could post. They are rarely shown (same as that Green Mask Jon posted and I didn't remember ever seeing).
