I think I've narrowed it down to The Comics Magazine #1 (May 1936) or #2 (June 1936); or Funny Pages #6 (November 1936) or #7 (December 1936).

I'll have to leave it to someone else to confirm or refute my hunch.

I may not know where the b&w strip appeared, but I did discover a somewhat revised color version appeared in Superman #29. (shrug)

I'll post a photo of it tomorrow after my camera's battery is recharged. :P

I think it may be the Comic Magazine Funny Pages #2. It wasn't #1 which featured some nice work by Shuster and Kelly. Goldenage.UK scans attached.

I did find some Barks art in this old July 1928 issue, which is nice to have.

Do you have any scans of the Barks artwork that you can share? :)

Everyone has seen the July 1928 drawing in EO but maybe not the Aug 1928 drawing by Barks. Reminds me of work by John Held.

The idea was so good, he used it twice...

Superman #29 (July-August 1944)

Reminds me of Jackys Diary by Jack Mendelsohn, which appeared in Dell Four Color 1091 as Jacky's Diary, an issue I'd like to find. Very funny strip.

I assume most of you with an interest in Burroughs have seen the cover to the Amazing Stories Annual; but unless you own a copy (like Ryan), you may not have seen the interior.

I'll post some more photos tonight and tomorrow.
