Theagenes
Reed Crandall's John Carter work is some of the best. Jesse Marsh on the other hand, not so much. . . .

Theagenes
Interestingly, Russ Manning was going to take over the Four Color John Carter series with Chessmen, but it got canceled. Here's the art for what would have been FC 528.

When I was a kid one of my favorite series were the Tarzan comics illustrated by Jesse Marsh and Brothers of the Spear illustrated by Manning. I know Marsh gets lots of grief from fans today but when I was a youngster, I enjoyed his work. Did you know that Marsh worked for Disney as an animator before he started work in the comics? Giesy All-Story Weekly (July 17,1918) I love it when you guys pick each others pockets! Cant tell you how much I am loving these beautiful early All Story covers. As for Grey Morrow - a bit underrated I would say. He did some nice stuff for Marvel:
BangZoom
MacIsaac's very first story published in Argosy ("Nothing But Money") was in the November 8th 1924 issue, which also featured the first printing of A. Merrit's "The Ships of Ishtar" Pictured below is the November 1924 issue and the 1938 Argosy which reprinted the Merrit story.
