This is a great show especially for a little place like Plainville. A buddy of mine's coming up from PA, and we're hitting this one to be sure- lots of awesome dealers who love nothing better than talking shop. This is one show I am ALWAYS in attendance. Hoping to add at least a few nice SA ASMs to my collection this weekend, as well as grab up some 80s X-Men and Excalibur back issues. Fun stuff to be sure.

Cliff definitely puts together a great time with this one. thumbsup2.gif

This was really a great show! I met Medstudentnerd and Mac Man there. Couple of really nice guys. We perused a box of Amazing Spider-Man 5-140 that Bedrockcomics had brought, and snagged some really nice books from it. I recommend this show to anyone who can get to it. I also recommend Bedrockcomics (Jim). He is a truly great person to do business with.

Looking forward to the August con!

hey Brian - thanks fot the kind words- this show was really fantastic - good to see all the board members along with cowboy Tony - also good to see a top notch show in connecticut - see you all in august - jim

Okay. I'll bite.

There has been a perfectly fine comic book convention in East Hartford for thirty years.

Cowboy Tony is not allowed to set up at Primate Promotions East Hartford show because I would not allow him to display and sell pornography at our little comic book convention that I bring my ten year old daughter to. I even offered extra space so that he could make up any lost income if he left his porn inventory at home.

No. It was porn or nothing. You either have a "need" to sell/buy porn or you don't. Sorry. I just don't believe that children should see openly displayed porn at a comic book convention. Never mind having porn buyers in the same room with attending children.

With all due respect langur, isn't there enough room for two good comic shows in CT? It's bad enough us folks here in CT can't get the bigger shows that NY or Boston gets, we really don't need bickering between those who promote shows in CT.

Just my two cents. Flame away if you feel the need.

There is no bickering. I get along fine with Cliff and we display fliers for each others shows. If it was closer to me geographically I would set up there more often. The problem is with posters with ulterior motives. East Hartford is a comic book show not a general collectibles show. We do not allow "dealers" who sell unlicensed merchandise or pornography, hence no cowboy Tony.

Some of your posts seem to come across to me as if you feel threatened by other local shows. Perhaps my perception is wrong and if so I apologize. It can be very difficult to discern intent and tone on a message board.

It's a cut-throat business.

Zach (medstudentnerd) and I were just talking about the absolutely amazing haul from this Sunday's show, and were glad to have gotten to meet Brian and Jim. I think those Silver Spideys had to be some of the best priced mid-grades I've seen going at that show period. I'm definitely going to be on the lookout for you come August. Good meeting you guys!

(And Languar, again, sorry I missed the show- didn't know about it until that very evening. I should be able to make it next time around though- can always have more shows here in CT).

I agree.

I see no reason why a promoter should feel threatened by another local show. Certainly, there's room for more than one, right? confused-smiley-013.gif

For many years I went to the East Hartford shows. Although when Hal started doing them every month it got a little out of hand. I also went to a semi-regular show in New Haven that was pretty good.

I miss the days of having multiple choices. Seems like those days might be over. That's a good thing.

It was real pleasure to meet Brian and Jim at the show. I hope to do business with Jim again soon (who's comics were well graded) and Brian (if you read this) good luck on the ASM run...Forrest and I are attempting the same and hope we get to your level. smile.gif

Best,

Zachary

It was "perfectly fine" when it was at the Knights of Columbus location...now it is cramped and sparse at the Holiday Inn location...
