I'm surprised at all the votes New Gods has received. Kirby's move to DC was one of those events that signified the Silver Age was well and truly over.

Could this be the all-time most polarizing series ever? Not the best or the worst, but the one that produces the most over-the-top-divergent opinions amongst readers. Those that love the books really love the books. Those that hate 'em, hate 'em with a passion.

I went with AT 25. Ive never read it or the New Gods or ASM 101, but between the three, AT makes me say wtf is so special about the book? To me it came down to: Its not Spidey, its not Kirby, its not important to me.

what is Tec 395 doing on this list???? first Adams interior art in Detective?? what?? It wasnt on anyones radar two years ago...and doesnt even herald a continuous tenure on one book by one artist! and hadnt Adams already drawn Batman elsewhere?? B&B?

all the rest are first comics somethings... this one sticks out like a sore thumb in this list of major and minor events etc,

My vote will be a coin toss between

AT #25 - the 1st appearance of a minor character whose coolest appearance was in someone else's comic(Captain America).

JO #135 - one of the lamest labeled 1st appearances ever. Darkseid is cool, but one tiny head-shot panel does not make for any significance with this book.

If either one survives the 1st round, I'll have to vote for it next round. :sumo:

Thanks for doing this JC, I'm glad you found something on the boards to express your comic interest.

what is Tec 395 doing on this list????

DC fanboys suggestion + DC equalization.

I agree it doesn't really belong, but there are so freaking few DCs to begin with, and this is supposed to be FUN for everyone after all. (shrug)

I'm not sure what the reason is, but unlike the SA survivor thread, the votes are very spread out. I wonder why there doesn't appear to be any clear loser. hm

1st denny o'neil & Neal Adams together on tec 395

ah sooo! so maybe its listing should say that... : )

thats a bit more important than just Adams art... but, do we similarly exalt ALL writer/artist pairings even when the story is nothing special? How about

first Lee/Kirby

first Lee/Ditko

first whoever/himever...

I may be wrong, but two creators still have to create something memorable storywise or character wise for the issue in question to be "special", doesnt it?

as did i. the DC Super Sp #6

blows away a bunch of those D.C.'s

Exactly what kind of BA importance does that book rate? (shrug)

maybe DCSS#4 could have been on the list. As the first 100-page book, and a tough book, and valuable one too.

All-star Western 10 get's my vote - I have never read any Johan Hex storyline and likely never will :sumo:

thats fine for you, but first Jonah Hex is an important, valuable, sought after book of a future movie star character. I think it oughtta survive pretty far on this lisy compared to many other entries...
