  1. That was very interesting (thumbs u
  2. And here's something you probably see slightly less often. Free TIE fighter with issue #2
  3. Free X-Wing fighters! Why is it we British have to have comics weekly instead of monthly, they have to be that much bigger and thinner, and we always have to have free gifts?
  4. The SS forum have a long running Star Wars thread packed with cast-signed #1s and the like. Perhaps this thread can show off more blue labels, price variants and so on? I had the same thought as you and picked up this raw last week (from Nick) Also a 9.8 W slabbed version has literally just landed on my desk Best of both worlds. EDIT: Something else just landed on my desk. The first two Star Wars Omnibus editions (reprinting the Marvel series in 5 volumes). Now I can finally get to reading this run
  5. Yeah, now you mention it, I can't remember any part of the movie where Luke potentially destroying the galaxy was cause for concern.
  6. Hey, good point! The cover for #2 even more comically misrepresents the film. Link. Luke and Ben appear to be a pair of brawlers well accustomed to getting themselves out of tight spots, taking on the entire clientele of the bar.
  7. Prompted by recent events! Decided I wanted one. Thanks Nick, pretty great looking in NM- (thumbs u
  8. Nice spot. Any particular reason as to why? It only came out like last month... Not sure. I've heard good things about what Fraction is doing with this book. Larry pointed it out as a hot book in his shop earlier in the month. The print run for #2 was 33,563, so possibly they didn't print enough to meet demand...? Personally, I never liked Fraction's writing but he's doing a decent job on this book. The real star is Aja's art though - it's pretty spectacular. I love that cover. Really makes you want to pick it up, and I personally hate the character!
  9. I wouldn't be at all surprised if this has been pointed out before, so apologies if I'm being slow. I've been watching all of Dragonball from the start with my son, and noticed a lot of similarities. Could have been a source of inspiration for Kirkman? Saiyans (Viltrumites) are super-powered aliens who conquer the universe by sending out 'sleeper' individuals to soften up and prepare planets one by one. Goku (Omniman) is assigned planet Earth and sent there, where he has a son by a human wife. Goku and his son (Invincible) reject their Saiyan heritage, having been raised as human. The Saiyans' home planet Vegeta (Viltrum) is destroyed leaving only a handful of their race. Add to that the fact that Allen becomes stronger every time he is beaten close to death, which is also true of Saiyans. Of course a lot of that (super alien from destroyed home world becomes protector of Earth) is straight from Superman, but it's got the added Dragonball details don't you think?
  10. Adding some Batman to my Amazon wish list...
  11. Can't believe how long ago that was. She (my daughter) is 4 and a half now. I have some high shelves that nobody in the house can reach except me!
  12. Pm me to discuss if you like It's very cool, and in a perfect world I would have one, but I'm strictly saving up for the time being. The one I had was just like yours (not the same, I checked the serials). Don't you just hate selling comics? I mean, a part of me regrets no longer owning just about everything I've ever let go!
  13. That Conan #1 8.0 PsychoJ listed in the sales thread is torturing me. A couple of years ago in a moment of munificence I donated mine to some board raffle or other. It's such a nice looking book
  14. 50' rope... check iron spikes... check rations... check OK, you're good to... wait a sec, OMG where's your pole? What are you thinking?! YOU NEVER GO ANYWHERE WITHOUT YOUR 10' POLE!!
  15. Can't be. I have one. Nothing I actually kept from my childhood is ever worth anything. I only threw out the stuff that became valuable collector's items.
  16. Beautiful, I had those same character sheets! Love to know if I've still got them stashed somewhere. I don't remember throwing them out, but no idea where they'd be...
  17. The lengths people will go to to win the grading contest.
  18. As opposed to the less spendthrift half-hardy. You never go full hardy!
  19. I'm reading 1984 at the moment too. A long time omission from my reading list, and Bronzilla insists I get it done!
