  1. ...but I like them a lot. They have good stories and well done art. I have a bunch of coverless early issues which make good readers and enjoy the playful covers.
  2. I love the early World's Finest comics. They have stories about many DC heroes, like Sandman and Crimson Avenger, along with Bats and Sup. It takes a die-hard Batman and Superman fan to collect World's Finest.
  3. I want to know where you shop! It's no secret. I buy at Renningers and from Ebay. Buy often and pay too much and you too can be buried under 10,000 comics. Ciorac has done better than I have recently and has found some good sources for bargains..
  4. But I am very fond of his Western covers. The background looks like Monument Valley in Utah or Arizona.
  5. I am pretty sure this Zago cover was by Baker.
  6. I picked up some of these recently too.
  7. Some recently acquired romance comics.
  8. A new Toyman added plus a train but the others I have had for a while. Some are incomplete but they look good in the pile.
  9. Thanks Twisty. I kind of like seeing them altogether too. I added a new Planet to the mix. It was only in fair condition though. i think I used to work for Her Evilness...
  10. The Gorgon issue is relatively new and I don't think it belongs in the romance thread.
  11. Love that run I like the Spy Smasher series but haven't found any in top condition. I did notice the interior stories are pretty interesting.
  12. I borrowed a copy of that book from Bob Horn about ten or twelve years ago. It was in nice condition and I wish I had made a better scan. I returned it intact and it was selling for $1100 at the time. I think this was my scan which I edited with Photoshop to remove a name at the top.
  13. never seen it before but I love that Famous Funnies 212. It has become a must have! Thanks for linking There's a portfolio of all the Frazetta Famous Funnies that was recolored by Frazetta.....not easy to find...or cheap, but well worth it. GOD BLESS... -jimbo(a friend of jesus) (thumbs u Jimbo, I only remember finding this one. I don't think I have scans of the others. I like all of the flying saucer art that I have seen and most of the Frazetta illustrations. I think his romance work was some of the best.
  14. A few more to add to the SciFi box... They are not in great condition but the covers look pretty nifty together.
  15. A few more to add to the SciFi box... They are not in great condition but the covers look pretty nifty together.
  16. Those Gaines copies are amazing. What kind of paper did he use to separate the comics? How much did he get from selling the collection?
  17. Interesting cover. I have never thought of the unicorn as a a dangerous beast. I suppost that horn on his nose could make a nasty puncture wound. Tetanus, and such, would be a worry. Thanks for posting the halloween Ghost stories, BZ.
  18. Here are the 1, 2, 3 and 5, My belief is that there is NO #4. Note that issue #3 was produced by Chesler and his work horse, Gus Ricca. (The #2 is the Rockford and #5 is the Pennsylvania cop).....#2 is a wonderful Binder cover........jb Who did the art for issue 3? NIce cover Jon. Do you have any original art from Silver Streak? Sadly, I do not. There is that gorgeous colored splash out there by Cole. And I do have the CC Beck cover recreation for SS. BUT I do have a run of SS in fairly high grade. Obtaining the cover for #3 is like a lot of collecting in the old days,,,,right spot, right time...jon Jon, Glad to see you survived the Fire and Water that hit the east coast. I was worried about your collection (and you) when I heard of all the problems around NY, NJ and Conn. I hope your commute isn't a bigger nightmare.
  19. There are several Roy Crane fans posting on the Golden Age boards... but I think this is the only Captain Easy cover that belongs on the pre-code thread. Cannabalism and good girl art by Schomburg.
  20. The Superman fans liked Hocus Pocus well enough to feature them on at least two more Action covers.
