  1. Here are the 1, 2, 3 and 5, My belief is that there is NO #4. Note that issue #3 was produced by Chesler and his work horse, Gus Ricca. (The #2 is the Rockford and #5 is the Pennsylvania cop).....#2 is a wonderful Binder cover........jb Who did the art for issue 3? NIce cover Jon. Do you have any original art from Silver Streak?
  2. The Gerber guide says Captain Battle 4 and 5 have a scarcity index of 8. I seem to have found two of issue 5 but only coverless 1 and 2.
  3. I agree with all of those but #2 which has Ted Williiams drawing on the left and no Babe.
  4. That's a damn nice pile. I'd like to get a Tec #85 someday... I have had that copy of Detective 85, as seen in the above photo, since 1963 or 1964.
  5. Unfortunately the Marvel Family 1 is incomplete but I have a decent copy of #2 which I picked up with a bunch of Feature Books and Our Gangs. I like Barney Bear and the stories from Our Gang have not been reprinted as often as the Duck stories.
  6. I never missed an Ozzie and Harriet show on TV. Mostly we watched to see Ricky and his brother. I have a few issues I think. At least one still has a cover but no picture.
  7. Mickey and the Beanstalk was a pretty good story. I have a coujple which includes the one in this group shot.
  8. I have several versions of this story. I like the coloring book but would like to color all of the pages. I think I have a Donald Duck in the Army coloring book too. The story was featured in Walt Disney Comics and Stories but most of us probably remember the cartoon.
  9. Just wondering whether you have any oversize issues in your collection? Such as Weekender, Feature Books and Mickey Mouse. The Experimenter was an early SciFi and Fact combination which turned into Amazing, I think. Any large pulps in your collection?
  10. I added a picture from my collection. I don't have the first two issues of Land of the Lost but I do have the third. It was a weird series which I have never heard on the radio but I did enjoy the TV show and movie.
  11. Scribbly is still missing from my collection. I'll have to fork out a few extra dollars to win one on ebay pretty soon or hope someone finds a moldy copy in their basement. Glad to hear that you were a fan too.
  12. I shouldn't have forgotten this one. It is hiding in the Harvey box, I think. Apparently the germ warfare story is based on a real attempt to develope anthrax and plague weapons during WWII.
  13. Batman 13 is kind of hard to pass up although I do like 20 and 25.
  14. I have been trying to collect science and microbia comics for my article about superheroes versus the microscopic world. Skyman was a tough one to get.
  15. Just added a new cover to the pile. I posted the silver age pile on the silver age thread.
  16. Me too. I had a copy for over thirty years. Sold it to Terry's Comics and bought another which I sold to Dave's American Comics. I like some of the Cap covers and a few others better but it does have a special place. I made a tiny edit correction. Sub-Mariner 18 was my first ever Schomburg comic. I bought an incomplete copy for $5 It had covers, 1st, 2nd wraps and the three nearest centerfolds.I still have it, but it has since donated it's centerfold to a CFO copy. My original Torch 2 resides in the Billy Parker collection (thumbs u My copy had a piece missing from the cover and was missing a centerfold. Here is an old photo of it from 1964 with some of my other comics.
  17. Me too. I had a copy for over thirty years. Sold it to Terry's Comics and bought another which I sold to Dave's American Comics. I like some of the Cap covers and a few others better but it does have a special place.
  18. I would be happy to post a photo for you if you have a digital file....or stop by and take a few pictures. I have a short week due to fall break.
  19. I visited The Brandywine Museum many years ago and had a great time. It's a beautiful area around there. I've got a bunch of William Steig books in my collection. I especially enjoy his cartoons about childhood. Here are a few from his "Dreams of Glory" series which was reprinted in The Steig Album. I visit the Brandywine museum every year to see the model train exhibit and Christmas cartoons and paintings. I hope the Bill Steig exhibit is set up the next time I visit. Thanks for posting those cartoons. I thought you might have some in the BZ archives. Lots of cartoons are available on the internet but his books seem to have a selection of the best.
  20. That is a perfect cover for the time. S and K kid comics disappeared around 1950. Did kid gangs go out of style. I don't think so. Perhaps they needed a little age like the X-Men.
  21. I purchased my copy of CC 12 in Lancaster in 1994 or so.
  22. I added a few more Star Spangled issues to the pile but didn't get the SS 1 that I was bidding on.
  23. I like those two. I have the Comic Cavalcade but only have issue 5 of All Winners and not 4. Someone provided me with a scan. I like that cover a lot.
  24. Looking forward to reading a copy. Is anyone reprinting the Sky Girl stories?
