  1. Love those Brundage covers. Couldn't resist the Bat cover. and I promise I won't post it again.
  2. Scrooge, I posted the blog link in the Blue Beetle thread. By the way, while I was waiting for postage, the package with the Straight Arrow cards was shifted to the bottom of one of the piles. I will keep looking and send it to you as soon as I find it. I was forced to move out of my home recently and don't have room anymore for all of the clutter that I have accumulated. Things get lost in the archives. bb
  3. Westerns had pretty good art at both companies.
  4. By the way, one of my Charlton Blue Beetle issues says that the title used to be call "The Thing". Ditko might have helped the title survive if they used him back then.
  5. I like some of those non-Ditko Thing covers but the Ditko covers are just great. I sold 17 but keptthis one.
  6. Few will appreciate it because few will ever see it. Congrats on picking up a true rarity! Thanks a bunch BOOT, I am very excited about this book! The only one that I know of in a collection is in Theagenes great collection of ERB books! Isn't that an EC Stoner cover? Doesn't look like Burroughs art.
  7. What ever happend to Sparky and Snoopy and I wonder if they shipped the puppy by US Postal Service?
  8. And Everett was given credit for this one. Did he do pencils and did he put this on his resume?
  9. Almost forgot this one. Pretty kinky too.
  10. I think he has stories in 13, 15, 16, and 21-24. I will check for splash pages in my files. The last one is questionable but he signed a lot of the others.

  12. I am not sure why Timely is considered more adult. The covers remind me of Crime Does Not Pay because they tend to be more violent. DC tended to have more horsey covers but I like horses.
  13. Atlas comics in general seem more adult oriented than their DC counterparts. Just a scan of covers will confirm that. Atlas put out some great stuff. Don't know about Avon but some Fox comics have just horrible artwork. Admittedly, that's somewhat of a generalization. Covers are often cool but interior work is lacking I am not sure why Timely is considered more adult. The covers remind me of Crime Does Not Pay because they tend to be more violent. DC tended to have more horsey covers but I like horses. ME westerns are my favorite. I liked Straight Arrow and Ghost Rider and usually buy books with stories that feature those characters. Frazetta covers on westerns are really nice to have too.
  14. Stoner did some nice covers for Blackstone as well.
  15. I read the comic again and it reminded me of Mark Twain's story about a Conneticut Yankee in King Arthur's Court. A lot of similarities. Did Verne or Wells do a similar story? I need a hardbound copy with illos by Frazetta or some such artist. Any available? I should go back and read the Twain story again. The language is probably more easily understood than Tom Sawyer. Both books would be better for middle school readers. Too bad sci fi doesn't get more respect from educators. bb
  16. Found a few pictures in a book from 1964. It probably isn't rare but I didn't have one before. America's Favorite Comics by Allen Willette
  17. Picked up these two Weird Tales recently. Posted one before but added an Argosy to the mix. I guess I had to have one after seeing all of those Brundage covers that BZ owns. not sure whether Matt Fox did that cover but don't think so. Early Argosy is a treat. I think I will try to pick up some more. Westerns and mystery Argosy covers are just as good as Scifi and ERB....almost.
  18. That is a nice All Star. I sold my copy but need to buy one back. bb
  19. Need coverless copy of Marvel Mystery 36. Need a cover for Captain America 40 and All Winners 13. Need a cover for Captain America 13 (But I changed the scans below to add a little variety). I could also use the cover to Marvel Mystery 30 which had a similar theme. Need covers for Hangman 2 and Jackpot 2, Top-Notch 11 and 12. Need a coverless copy of Pep 33 and 35. Need a coverless copy of Speed 35, All American 52, Punch 10 and Sensation 27. Add Daredevil 27 and Boy 30 to the need covers group and Dynamic 9 and Flash 42, 82 Firestone 1947, Batman 25 and 36 and Mystery in Space 2 to the need coverless copy group. I have two Blue Ribbon issues (13 and 17) that need a cover and one that needs a centerfold. Will trade a Batman 22 centerfold for a Batman 19 or 36 centerfold. I have a Batman 68 with no cover and the last ad page missing for trade and a coverless Batman 22 with the second page missing. I have an extra copy of Batman 40. Also need a cover for Batman 19 but a good scan would do for now. Glad to have this Children of the Bat in the Batman box.
  20. Wonder Woman 14 coverless but complete Batman 33 coverless and missing centerfold Batman 54 coverless but complete and many others available for similar material
  21. I think this story was by Briefer and the Cap Aero was by Palais.
  22. Picked up coverless copies of True Crime 2, Sungirl 2, early Millie the Model, Crime does not pay 42, Wonder Woman 14, Batman 33 and many others if anyone is interested. Still looking for Batman and All Stars. Bruce I think the # of the True Crime should be Vol 1 #3. Wacky numbering system on a short series.
  23. I noticed a good article on Stoner was mentioned in the GCD chat group. The author also submitted some photos of Stoner. He was in this ad for Gordon's Gin. And he drew this nifty cover for the Challenger. Didn't Kubert do some work for one of those issues? I think it was 4 and had a double page centerfold by Joe. Thanks for these new scans. Check out Ken Q's blog spot if interested. http://thecomicsdetective.blogspot.com/2010/04/e-c-stoner-forgotten-trailblazer.html
