  1. I am especially fond of these two parade issues because one has a 60 plus page Phantom Blot story and the other has 55 pages of art by Carl Barks. And I like those Gene Autry issues published by Fawcett.
  2. I usually post this one at Christmas time.
  3. I like the horror stories by Everett. I picked up a beat up copy of this one on ebay. Sharing someones scan but not sure who.
  4. This Duck book usually gets a lot of abuse. Did Grandma save one? bb
  5. That Disneyland issue is in really nice shape. It was reprinted in the 1990s I think but I remember reading the original. I am still working on the Christmas Parade issues. I think I need two more. Although I might be confusing the Disneyland issue with this Christmas in Disneyland. Still missing Christmas Parade 3 and 5.

  7. My son bought the Gasoline Alley series for me but I don't have a Williams reprint. I do have this nifty platinum age book. Williams had an assistant who eventually took over the Out Our Way series, I think.
  8. Do you have one of those handsome giant-sized circus pictures? I had to clean this one up with Photoshop.
  9. Here is an old J.R. Williams cartoon that reminded me of Ms. Vonn who hooked a gate in the Olympics today. Tough girl, I would be in the hospital if I was on the slopes for 5 minutes. Funnies from GA.UK
  10. John Wayne Adventure comics, Toby, 31 issues, art by Williamson and Frazetta Maybe the Frazetta art makes them collector items which decreases the number on the market. Maybe lower print runs from Toby has an effect. But they are probably just sitting in the Western box and being ignored.
  11. That issue of WDCS should always be a little beat up to match the moth eaten cover. Even John Wayne fans don't remember the Green Beret movie. I think he is probably better known for True Grit. But I liked Stagecoach, Yellow Ribbon and Red River. bb
  12. Ghost Rider comics are very collectable. I think early Fawcett Gene Autry comics sell pretty well. Early Marvel westerns seem to move. There are many Dell westerns and they don't all move well. I bet even Roy Rogers is slow. Some of us like Straight Arrow and Durango but most people just want the Frazetta covers. I like westerns (and I am old too) but a lot of younger people don't. I have two copies of this book. This one has a pretty nice dust cover.
  13. Welcome back to the winner's circle, BB. (thumbs u 2010 Standings 1- Scrooge 2- Twistty1 3- MrBedrock 4- Scrooge 5- BB-Gun Thanks BZ, knowing the artist's name is a pretty big hint. Scrooge must have been busy. I think I need to shovel some more snow again... bb Looked at the cover of # 84 but not the next one Anyway, my first impulse was that it was a cover from Heroic. It wasn't and it's fair for me to stop the search there. Enjoy the win (thumbs u OK!

  15. Thanks for the story Old Guy. I don't think anyone ever gave me 2,000 old comics but I did get a thousand comics from the 1990s that someone wanted to get rid of. Nice to read and still in mint condition. My older brother's collection of Scrooge comics was torn to bits by his younger brother but I have replaced most of them with high grade and finished the collection I think. However, I occasionally find that I am missing one. Love the Gyro stories. He was kind of a hero of mine. I don't think I have all of those issues and may be missing one or two. Still need a complete Four Color 282 and FC 147 as well as other four color Donald Duck issues. bb I bought this copy off the newstand back in the sixties. Mighty good reading.
  16. That's a great cover BZ. Everett worked for a lot of companies. He must have been fast. He was obviously good. And I like those big dinosaurs or dragons, although he might have been an alien horticulturist who was misunderstood.
  17. Amazing, Dwight. Love those Spider pulps. I wish I had more.
  18. There are a few other L. B. Cole covers with black backgrounds, such as Blue Bolt #105, 108, Catman #31, Captain Aero #22 etc... Great books! West I agree. The Catman cover and Blue Bolt are a couple of my favorites.
  19. And fortunately, Wertham didn't discover this one.
  20. There was some pretty good art in Rangers but the stories weren't always about Jungle girls.
  21. I finally picked up a copy of AE 7 and now my OCD is satisfied. But I noticed that the back of the AE 7 lists the SFCA as the return address. I think I read somewhere that GB Love bought the rest of the print run and sold them. He also reprinted AE 5 which I also have (and the original as well). I think these early AE issues are hard to come by but not too expensive. Is it because they are reprinted or most collectors don't buy fanzines? bb
  22. I posted this in another thread and mentioned that I thought it was a Matt Baker greytone cover. Anyone else think so? bb
  23. Nice books Bill! Those earlier issues are violent aren't they?!? So do you know how far you are from a complete run? Thanks David! I have about 2/3rds of the run completed. Concurrently I am chasing the Four Color issues and the Super Comics issues, so it is a bunch of books. But I'm in no hurry to complete it, as I really enjoy the quest. I'm trying to keep the books in pretty nice grade too so I pass on lower grade copies for the most part. Although, I do have a handful of issues in the VG range, most are better than FN Are you collecting Popular too?
