  1. It is kind of an EC story. The murderer gets it in the end but he was a pretty bad guy. Strange that Whitman drew these gruesome stories and Wertham nailed him for drawing secret pictures in the panels.
  2. Super awesome! I just love promotional comics...and these are the greatest!Sweet...except that Joe guy scribbling inside.... Always admire your books, cool.stuff lives in your collection. Is there a story behind these? Unfortunately, I don't have a story to go with the book. I like the smaller Wheaties giveaways too. I have tried to collect Superman-Tim books but usually get beat when I bid. Most of the Fawcett giveaways are easier to find and the smaller books can be seen in several variations. Firestone giveaways are usually dusted off and displayed for Christmas.
  3. I have had this book for a long time. Purchased it from a local guy whose name I don't remember. But recently I picked up a low grade copy and got the chance to look through it again. Love the Starman story by Burnley. Robots vs. superheroes is always good... and Bernie always did a great job when working with the Spectre.
  4. Wheaties giveaways are usually a beat up good. In many cases they are just poor and some guy named Joe seemed to sign the Hawkman story in the Flash giveaway..
  5. I own the CC 5 cover but these are both copies. Nicely done too.
  6. Love that one lots! I had two of those but sold one to Dave.
  7. What comics are in the Blue Circle issues? I am guessing that the covers are the same but not the interiors.
  8. I could use a cover for Feature Funnies 14.
  9. I guess the yellow background goes well with the green uniform. I do like the Big Top story in WF 9.
  10. I have several early Lone Ranger comics but this is the only one that Sonny signed.
  11. There should be some Toth in Dale Evans 1 if I'm not mistaken. I would love to read that story. I like Toth but I think Dale was by Maxwell Elkan.
  12. I had trouble finding one of these but kept bidding and ended up with 3.
  13. These are fun to collect. The art is best in Dale Evans.
  14. I like those Tom MIx covers but I was a big fan of Roy Rogers back in the fifties.
  15. I've never picked up the non-Barks books from this time period. Maybe someday but so much else to pick up first. I added the other FC 300 issues to the pic. A lot of non-Barks material was included when I purchased Disney lots. It is fun stuff too.
  16. I think I picked up the last Duck story in the 300s in a haphazard sort of way. There might be another Four Color missing with Donald but the main ones are in the box.
  17. I'm currently in Oregon attending my nephew's wedding. When I return home I'll go through my pulps and see if I can find anything. Thanks BZ. My pleasure. We'll be here for another 9 days. We're presently in Eugene but we will also be spending a few days in Salem and Portland. If anyone knows of any cool shops, museums, or tourist attractions you can recommend, I'd appreciate hearing about them. Anyone know if BZ had a good time in Eugene? I grew up there and attended UO. I hope he enjoyed it. I've been missing his posts. I have never visited Eugene but I did visit Oregon State in Corvallis, Oregon and Portland State in the City of Roses, I think.
  18. Love the costume...I am still working on that Buck Rogers collection.
  19. This pair is slightly larger than the original but still very collectible.
  20. I like those painted covers. What happened to the originals? Does JB ComicBox have them?
  21. I loved the Pet that attacked NY like King Kong. I caught him chomping a blimp.
  22. Midnight was another Spirit which might have boosted sales but he was a great character when illustrated by Jack Cole.
