  1. Matt Baker always drew impressive action shots for Authentic Police Cases.
  2. I remember when cereals and oatmeal boxes contained premium toys for kids. I had a Straight Arrow cup. Some boxes contained a miniature submarine. I would have had a lot of comics too if my parents had purchased Wheaties. Unfortunately, I might have started eating them too late to get a copy of these Captain Marvel premiums. They always have tape damage.
  3. Never saw the movie...but did see a couple episodes of the CAPTAIN MARVEL serial and I did buy a few items from the comic books. mm What did you get, a hat, cape or badge? I remember getting a CAPTAIN MARVEL "Magic Eyes" picture, a CAPTAIN MARVEL Pennant, a CAPTAIN MARVEL Hat, CAPTAIN MARVEL Pins to put on the Hat and a CAPTAIN MARVEL Pencil Holder that came FREE with certain items...I think I still have one of the pins. mm I like the Buzz Bomb and the Picture Puzzle.
  4. Never saw the movie...but did see a couple episodes of the CAPTAIN MARVEL serial and I did buy a few items from the comic books. mm What did you get, a hat, cape or badge?
  5. I first saw"Captain Marvel and the Good Humor Man" on CKLW when the afternoon movie was hosted by Bill Kennedy. Above photo, from Wiki, was from an episode of Superman that Bill appeared in. George Reeves also appeared in the Captain Marvel movie.
  6. Did you see the movie when you were young... or did you buy any CM toys?
  7. I always think of this Sheena cover when I think of GGA.
  8. I'll have to put that Planet 39 on my want list. It goes well with the Planet 19. I think the #19 cover (photoshopped a little) has been replaced by a more complete copy but I didn't scan it yet.
  9. Quality control wasn't what it should be at Charlton. I have a war comic with only one color and another puzzle book with nothing on the cover. I am sure there are many others.
  10. Thanks for the info. I'm definitely going to try to get to all those places. A friend of mine worked at the university in Portland and she took me to Powell's book store. I also visited some of the waterfalls in the Columbia River Gorge. I ate lots of grilled salmon while on the trip but I think it was mostly while in Vancouver.
  11. The Maltese Falcon is also one of my favs and worth watching many times.
  12. I don't. I previously mentioned that my Batman 1 is just a copy...and number two is not much more than a nice copy of the cover.
  13. I noticed some of Allen Ulmer's watercolors were on sale at a gallery listed on-line.
  14. Jerry Bail's Who's Who in Comics is a good source for artists histories. You can also try the Grand Comics Database. Both have a lot of interesting information. Searching may require a couple attempts but don't give up. Alter-Ego publishes a lot of articles about golden age comics. If you have any old family photos, Roy Thomas would be interested in publishing them. Original art usually ends up on ebay or at a Heritage auction. Please keep in contact and post photos you can find. I will see what else I can dig up. Local conventions are held in most large cities. The biggest comic convention is in San Diego and another is in NYC. The Baltimore and Philadelphia conventions are large too. I haven't been to any of the other conventions but you can usually find information at your local comic shop.
  15. I think some people see them as too common but many collectors on the boards are Timely collectors. I like 'em but my early issues are mostly incomplete.
  16. Are the missing pages from the Sandman story or Cotton Carver? I might have some of those.
  17. I have one of those and like the art but I still like his old corny costume.
  18. Nice. Continuing on with the "funky and fragile" theme, I present my Astonishing Stories from September 1941 which has a nice plague story by Fank Belknap Long. Illustration by Hannes Bok Siegel wrote a story about the Purple Plague the year before.
  19. I think you are asking about the scan from Capt. Aero 26.
