  1. One of my favorite stories but part of the silver age by definition.
  2. and Catman likes to read Catman and Suspense. I think that is issue Suspense 2.
  3. and Supersnipe reads The Shadow...perhaps Vol. 5 #6.
  4. Borrowed art from a Flickr friend.
  5. Maybe you were thinking about Archie reading about the Shield. The Shield usually read the Daily Star and Dusty read Zip.
  6. I borrowed this post and I think someone has mentioned it before. Neat movie made from Frazetta's book.
  7. I visited the home of a collector about 15 years ago who owned the original artwork to the Cheap Thrills album. I don't think I have seen the original but it would have been perfect for the show at the Jewish Art Museum in NYC or the cartoon museum in SF.
  8. Heny Kuttner and a classic Hamilton story is a good combo. Do you read these while drinking an RC Cola and eating a moonpie?
  9. I like that title too. BTW 11 is one of the few comics that I still have from the fifties. I have purchased several other issues and I think this scan is from BTW 3 but it isn't my scan. However, I am amused by the scenes with the Ghost Rider in the snow. Sullivan must have had an ink shortage at the printers. ...or Ayers was influenced by a Cezanne exhibit
  10. Abbie and Slats was also reprinted in Comics on Parade. Van Buren was the artist and Al Capp wrote the stories for a while.
  11. I have issue 17 but missing 18 and a few more early issues.
  12. ME also published a variety of stories in Great Western and Bobby Benson. Frazetta drew some of those covers and Ayers' Ghost Rider reminds me of Graham Ingels work for EC.
  13. Artist #3 was Frank Borth who also drew Spider Widow and the Raven. The strip featured Phantom Lady crossovers. Thanks to the blog "Four Color Shadows" for the scan.
  14. I am always interested in collections of photos that feature golden age artists. This Treasure Chest comic is not golden age but it includes photographs of Reed Crandall, Joe Sinnott, Frank Borth and many others. Do you recognize them all?
  15. I am a fan of the Star Spangled series. I liked the Newsboy Legion and Robin solo stories.
  16. Me too! But it isn't easy to match things up. I agree I'm looking for a covers for tales of 39 and justice league of america #1 because they are both coverless You can probably purchase a copy of the cover. A lot of people make them but most of them are the wrong size or folded incorrectly.
  17. These large single panel cartoons were fun to read. Kind of like a Woody Allen movie with everyone talking at once.
  18. I don't have any large Sunday pages that feature Boots but the Nedor comics were spectacular at times.
  19. The Caplin family published all sorts of comics, advertisements and public service magazines that took advantage of brother Al's popular creation.
  20. Wunder's inking was rich and detailed.
  21. Me too! But it isn't easy to match things up.
  22. After working on the Hangman and Tygor, Storm worked on The Adventures of Patsy. So he worked on the first adventure strip and the first adventure strip featuring a female.
