  1. I'm starting to wonder if this one is as rare as advertised. I thought there were only two extant, but just one the boards here, we've got at least three. Yes, but I only know of those three, plus one more- that copy that sold for about $700. on eBay last August, remember? Here's the census I've been keeping on this book: RICK STARR'S copy, my copy (which is the Crippen copy), the one that sold on eBay last Aug., and another copy owned by a member of the Yahoo Romance group (he sent me a scan, years ago). Those are the only four I've been able to confirm. Anyone else have one? I have a short box full of this issue. I'll try to scan them when I get a chance. Ken I would like one please. But it isn't a Baker cover.
  2. I enjoy the Marvel family but wish there were more Crime Crusaders stories in Master Comics.
  3. These have really nice interior paper and quality copy covers.
  4. I don't have any issues with that serial but Comic Plus has a few Captain Marvel comics. Above page is from issue 65.
  5. I may be repeating myself but those Nemo strips by McCay are wonderful.
  6. Yes, I think that is from Captain Marvel 22. I have one or two of those.
  7. No, but I still buy and sell on eBay. The point I was making is that I can. The internet has leveled the playing field. There's no longer such a vast difference between 'dealer' and 'collector', like there used to be. A collector is just an experienced dealer when he decides to sell. Don't kid yourself. You don't know the market as well as many of the dealers. They are professionals who are making a living at it. I like to play golf but couldn't make money at it if I went on tour.
  8. Dang, I really need to upgrade my copy of this issue. Nice one! Good choice.. My friend told me the Yankee pitchers start training camp today.
  9. Some favorite Cole covers that I just moved to the showbox.
  10. Still trying to find the rest of those Showcase issues for my collection.
  11. Without looking them up, aren't the two on the flanks by Russ Heath? I think you may be correct. I only saw the signature on the one in the middle. The cover on the left (GI Combat 102) is attributed to Jerry Grandenetti and the one on the right is attributed to Heath. But they are all inked by Jack Adler. I'll use that as an excuse for my error.
  12. 1. Captain America Comics #1 2. Detective 31 and 35 3. All-Star Comics #3 4. World's Fair 1939 5. More Fun Comics #56 6. All Select 1 7. Human Torch 5 8. Superman #3 9. Marvel Mystery 9 and 28 10. Batman 1 I would be happy with any of the early Captain America Comics and might substitute Marvel Mystery 40 and 44 for 9 and 28. I haven't made a push for most of these comics other than the Human Torch 5 and 8. How can I spend so much money on an Action 1 when I would rather have 19, 21 and 23. OK, Superman 3 has a train on the cover and the streamline was designed by Raymond Loewy. I want one.
  13. Ming's head shrank a little with time. Trying to conquer the entire universe will do that to you.
  14. What a terrific strip that is. I cut it in half so I could enlarge it a little. We should probably show each panel separately to really enjoy it.
  15. This early page by King was reprinted in Cavalcade of Old Time Comic Strips.
  16. I remember the Ben Gay ads from the fifties. I think this one was a little earlier. Obviously the ads were for older people (40 or 50, Hah) and not for the kids.
  17. Foster was clearly the king of the funny page. His Prince Valiant strip was full page in the sixties when others were 1/3.
  18. I didn't see anyone posting this but might have missed it. Hope you didn't wait too long. I like this one too. Although I might like Phantom Lady 18 a little more.
