  1. My brother and I seldom received comics for Christmas. Those that I have were purchased by one of us and saved. The Christmas Parade Dell giants were all purchased many years later. However, the Gold Key versions were purchased while I was still in high school. Summer time Giant comics seemed to arrive early and usually had games and puzzles to keep us busy and out of trouble. They weren't always successful.
  2. The two on the right are from my brothers collection.
  3. These are from my collection but Mutt and Jeff didn't seem to celebrate the holiday as much as Andy and the Brownies.
  4. Whoa! Great score for $100. eBay? Awesome!! Reminds me of the good old 90s when Baker was available at a good price. Congratulations. Back in the good old 90s, I used to sell all of my romance comics to a guy at Showcase comics. He moved away and I was stuck with a big bunch of comics with Baker covers.
  5. I usually look to my duck comics for Christmas cheer.
  6. I have the Batman and the Supersnipe but never won an auction for Action 93. However, I like the cover very much and will keep trying. I like all of the Green Lama covers but saving my coin for issue 6.
  7. You are on a roll. Pep 22 (First Archie), Batman 1, Captain America 1 and 2 (on your other website).
  8. I like this Speed cover and I think it fits in there with my other two favorites.
  9. I like to think that the couple on the left has a few tattoos instead of ink marks on the cover. They need a few nose rings too.
  10. Great covers on those Cole comics but is the interior story original?
  11. A fleeting glimpse of the collector in his native habitat! I'm always watching. Great collection. Do you have a gallery on comicartfans.com? he does Weird Paper Wow! I didn't know this original art existed. Looks like Avison with touchups by Schomburg on Kato and folds added perhaps.
  12. Overstreet agrees with that label. It started in 1948 and was continuously published into the sixties, almost 20 years. Crypt of Terror wasn't published until 1950. Eerie (1947) predated Adventures but was a one shot (with art by Bob Fuji by the way). Avon restarted Eerie in 1951. Note the label doesn't appear on the early issues.
  13. I have not. It's important to keep a surprise or two in the back pocket for emergencies like preventing the looming mitchastrophe. I think we'll close this round with a little group shot. Just when I think I have enough Mary Marvel, you come up with two more that I need.
  14. I heard Harlan read his Catman story at the writer's clinic held at Michigan State many years ago. He was very entertaining and he read well. If he had been taller, he would have been a leading man in Hollywood.
  15. :headbang:FC 29 is probably my favorite cover of this little group.
  16. Wait a minute. Do you mean Duckburg is gone? It was one of the highlights of my visit there. I posted this photo of my son and I many times before but mssing Duckburg now. And was Captain Nemo's submarine still there?
  17. Here's one that I picked up this past summer... The game looks interesting and so does the cover for #5. Thanks to Comics Plus for the scans, I think.
  18. I always like this Jumbo cover but not exactly because of the cat.
  19. Did we forget to mention Rudy Vallee was the second one. I couldn't find the name of the dog but might be Marmaduke. The Vagabond Lover also liked dogs. Didn't Harvey have a superhero with a name like that. Thanks to the Kirby Museum
  20. Thanks for the story. Glad I saw it after dinner....gulp.
