  5. CLOSED! Welcome to another Toasty SDCC Sale! I didn’t plan on coming this year, but things changed at the last minute. I’m here on some other business and a little adventure so I thought I’d throw in a sale while I was here. Let’s get the ugly out of the way. If you’re a seller at this show, I promise you the following: The usual applies… - First, come on in and have some fun. This thread is not a serious affair. - Good prices and accurate grading; - USPS Priority shipping; - 100% money back guarantee, not responsible for shipping damage; - No pre-selling nonsense here; - Payment via PayPal (USD only); - First rules all; - No PM requests; - I sell to those I want to – PLers, HOSers, mopes, jerks, button humpers, and general turds are not welcome here. - Probably not doing any CGC subs, but if I decide to then I’ll post it with the respective book and I don't do “upgrade fees” if your book comes back higher than 9.8 – my philosophy is that if you paid for the book to begin with, then you own it. However, this is likely going to be a raw sales thread due to my limited time. If you're new to my sales I do a whopping two shows a year - this one and ECCC, though this may be my last SDCC show. I have excellent feedback from boardies here.
  6. Saw an IMAX 3D screening this morning. This movie is a lot of fun! End credits, I mean at the very end of the credits is hilarious Yes, there are two credit scenes: one during and one at the very end. Without saying too much, a really good twist about the middle, and not everyone is going to be happy with MJ. To those who will hate on this film, this ain't your daddy's Spider-Man. Welcome to 2017.
  7. I sold a high grade, raw copy for $35 at the last show I did.
  8. The one taking place in Portland in June I believe they are not taking any comic book dealers. Likely because it would violate any non-compete the convention center has with Rose City Comic Con. Over 32 celebs scheduled at the Portland show and Walker Stalker will also be at the same event.
  9. It was a bit weird as at the show they announced exhibitors could sign up for 2018 at the end, then they pulled the plug on that. They recently announced they were adding shows and new dates to their schedule. I don't know how they've stayed afloat with all the problems they've had. The Portland show this year was a mess. One example: they were handing out 2016 maps to attendees. No joke.
  10. Wizard World Portland 2018???? Can't seem to get an answer from WW if they're coming back to Portland, Oregon or not. Anyone got any info?
  11. Looks like the guy they arrested was targeting police and was going to try and kill Jason David Frank of Power Rangers fame.
  12. Never a matter of if, but of when. This will certainly change the landscape of security at cons. One person with a trench coat can conceal a lot and one person with enough motivation will figure out how to get it done. Glad to see no injuries or fatalities. Kudos to Phoenix PD.
  13. Condolences to the Cavanaugh family and friends I'm not second guessing why Jim Cavanaugh did what he did, I wasn't there and don't have all the facts. I'm also not excusing what the alleged thief did, I despise thieves. This is a tragic and sad event all around. One person is dead and at least one person is going to face some sort of robbery charge and likely a manslaughter charge, perhaps murder, over $20. Next will come the civil lawsuits and the rest of the ugliness. In a lot of states if you steal something and employ any force during an act of theft, it becomes robbery instead of a simple shoplifting or theft charge. An act of recklessness resulting in death can turn that into a manslaughter or murder charge very quickly, and worse if the state has mitigating factors where death results from a criminal act - which is most states. Guy threatening you with a knife? Probably a shooting event. Guy breaking in your house in the middle of the night? Probably a shooting event. Guy seriously harming your family? Probably a shooting event. Guy walking into your business and stealing $20 in merchandise? For you brick and mortar store owners - let it walk out and call the police. I've seen people get seriously hurt trying to take action and you simply never know who you're dealing with or what might be coming your way. If you're carrying a firearm for self defense, be sure you do more than the minimum to get a conceal carry permit. Go the extra distance and take additional defensive shooting classes and get educated on the law (criminal and civil) surrounding liability and your rights. Know what you limits are and have a realistic outlook on your shooting skills. Looks like you don't need a permit in Missouri, but do yourself a favor and get some proper training so you can make the right decision if you ever have to pull that trigger. When you pull a firearm on someone, you're either 100% right or 100% wrong. Missouri has a stand your ground law, but that doesn't mean you have to place yourself in a bad situation simply because it is legally permissible. You might smoke a bad guy and have your buddies patting you on the back, but even if you're in the right you had better be prepared to lay out $50K or more to defend yourself in a wrongful death lawsuit, and more importantly prepared for the metal and emotional toll taking a life will likely bring. Worse yet, you find yourself charged with murder. 9-1-1 left them on hold? WTF?? Their call-in system must be pretty bad for this to have happened. Guaranteed lawsuit. I hope they find the thief and charge him. He set the wheels in motion and needs to answer for it.
  14. That's what I figured, but with some of the crazy things I've seen I thought I'd ask. Thanks!
  15. Hope this isn't too rare. I put 10 rounds through one at the range not that long ago...
  16. Just picked up a copy, will read tonight.
  17. I bet that's the best half mile walk to the comic shop...ever.
  18. I usually just take a cab everywhere. No driving and no parking hassle. If you look hard enough, you can find some amazing deals on places to rent. The place I usually stay at is less than a mile from the convention center and I get a smoking deal. Greggy, I will not miss you this year.
  19. Skipping SDCC this year, too much on my plate. Looking for a place to stay? PM me for details. Two bedroom, private bath, kitchen, living room. About 6 miles away, maybe less. Can sleep at least 6. If I don't know you, you must provide references and a deposit. Once we're locked in there will be no refunds. No mopes or turds. Spoken for!
  20. Result: Flippers and resellers suddenly experience a birth boom and are bringing fifteen kids each to the show or suddenly asking relatives and friends if their kids want to go to a comic con.
  21. The sig/exclusive biz can be pretty ugly and is likely more ugly than I've seen with the mere two or three big shows I attend. Too much pettiness, deceit, and overall nonsense. I love seeing these guys get their friends in line for books or sigs, or changing out their exhibitor badges for regular attendee badges so they can get in lines. There are some legit guys out there making a living doing this and kudos to them for doing it right and honestly, but there are very few of them. Some think its all about that hustle. Some think you need to make a killing, when all you really have to do is make a living. But what do I know...
  22. They can limit sigs, but then some guy will get 10 of his friends to stand in line with him - same thing happens when you see books limited to one or two per person, somoene always seems to have 10 or more copies for sale. Remember when Amanda Conner did a free sketch for someone and she found out it was being sold on eBay? Yep, no more free sketches for the fans thanks to some greedy tool bag who probably gushed what a fan they were and had the book on eBay fifteen minutes later...
  23. Kraven says, "Can't we all just get along?"
