  1. The grade(s) are listed when the comic book(s) are "Shipped."
  2. I had a few Marvel Subscriptions (A S-M, Avengers, etc.) in the 1970s (circa 1971 to 1975). I still own every issue and, of course, very few reached me unfolded and I read them to heck and beyond. They may be nowhere near mint, but if one can love comic books, I love those because I paid for the subscriptions with the allowance my parents gave me. That connection alone makes them priceless to me.
  3. Submissions: a) forty comic book modern b) two magazine modern Edit: 1) both shipped, Friday, May 12, 2023 2) both scheduled to be delivered, Monday, May 15 3) delivered and ready for collection by CGC, May 15 4) "picked up" by CGC, May 15 5) CGC confirmed delivery, Tuesday, May 16 6) CGC marked received, TBD 7)
  4. Mike, Were you already a CGC employee at that time, my memory fails me?
  5. If one closes their eyes when looking at a CGC slab, it looks great.
  6. "... WHICH THEY DIDN'T HAVE TO DO!" and its progenitor is a board classic.
  7. They look like they were assembled using too much Testors Plastic Cement.
  8. As you may know, there are at least two companies that "grade" slabbed comic books. So, why not?
  9. Very nice: X-men ----- Continues to be Uncanny!.
  10. The likelihood of any copy of Iceman #2 that MHC has being NM is arguably quite low. Every copy is more likely to be 7.5, with one perhaps being 8.0 to 8.5. The chance of receiving that one higher condition copy is extremely low.
  11. Beautiful set:Amazing Spider-man (cont.)!
  12. As has likely been mentioned, unfortunately perhaps sooner rather than later slabs without defects will be the exception. Hopefully, their contents will be undamaged.
  13. Indeed to both your comments.. BCW, etc, backing boards and bags are fine if you realize what you are purchasing because they are arguably no better than the cheapest ones that were available in, for example, the 1980s. However, as you note, folks may not realize that if they first encounter the BCW representative's lie because he or she lied like, as they say, a lying liar that lies about the acid-free quality of the company's boards.
  14. To state the "obvious," () perhaps it was signed in invisible ink.
  15. Board member msschmidt did a very detailed analysis of E. Gerber backing boards vs. manufacturers claiming that their "coated and buffered" on one side with calcium carbonate (non-acid free) backing boards were acid-free. "... But ... this does not guarantee that your item won't become acidic at a later date, a much more apt description would be "acid-free at time of manufacture"." The results clearly demonstrated that only E. Gerber (correction two) and BCE boards were (correction) archival-safe acid-free. The post should still be available as it is quite informative. Edit: The thread is: Are "acid-free" backing boards truly acid-free? Time to pH test & find out!
