  1. I posted these in the JLA thread but don't know how many people read it. Just in from CGC this week and thoroughly and totally...not...mine. ::sob:: Photos are just copies. The original are in a safety deposit box.
  2. Sorry they aren't more than photos of a color copy but Paul didn't seem to want 'em sitting around the store. Can't imagine why.
  3. Went by the LCS today and the books are in a safety deposit box. I got pictures of the scans they made of them and will post them when I get home. They've already gotten offers of $50k for #1 and $20k each for 2 and 3. I'm guessing they'll walk out the door at $100k combined. If you are hankering to spend that kind of cash, email me and I'll give you their contact info. It's the same folks that have the UHG TTA and TOS.
  4. I know this collection has the highest graded copies of a number of Tales of Suspense and Tales to Astonish. It has a truly staggering number of UHG Mad Magazines and Cracked Magazines. Really sad when you figure that AF 15 was issued in the same time period as the rest of the collection. They could have picked up 3-4 AF 15 and ASM 1 but instead loaded up on 35-40 Mads and Crackeds. Still I can't see this story as being so unusual as to prevent it happening hundreds of times elsewhere.
  5. JLA 1 1960 CGC 9.6 JLA 2 1961 CGC 9.6 JLA 3 1961 CGC 9.4 I didn't ask about PQ but would expect OW/W based on everything else in the collection.
  6. I'm hoping to see the slabs on Wednesday and will take my camera. They are from the same collection as my TTA and TOS books I posted a couple of months ago. They got sold privately a few years back before I ever even knew they existed.
  7. i think cheetah is implying he's seen or owns it- after seeing his books, who can doubt him? and i'd weigh in w/ $60k and it'd make the guy that's buying toth's book a little sick to the stomach Sadly, I don't own it. It is a very nice set, though.
  8. If it looked deserving of the grade and was well centered, at least $50K. It looked as perfect as if it just been printed.
  9. Just curious what you guys think a JLA #1 CGC 9.6 would sell for.
  10. Thanks to Ivanko for the SS Ms. Marvel and Comicnut for X-men Civil War.
  11. Kudos to Wrightson Fan for a nice slabbed Avengers. USPS did their best to trash it but a Tyvek envelope kept the slabs dry when the bubble wrap was dripping.
  12. You said 'women' and 'logical' in the same sentence! Is that allowed in polite society?
  13. I'm not one of the heavy posters here but I do check the sales forum pretty often. Whenever I see a sales post that isn't in compliance with the rules, there are inevitably two pages of posts taking pleasure in pointing out exactly how the post doesn't comply with the rules. Some are clever, some are rude, some are completely out of line. If you buy an Incredible Hulk 181 from someone who has two pages of flame posts in the thread, maybe the problem isn't with the forum but the numbnut who goes ahead with the sale. You guys are making mountains out of mole hills with this. You've got your own self-regulating system here that seems to me to work 100 percent of the time.
  14. Thanks to gman and Wrightson Fan for some good books!
  15. I've got around 14,000 unslabbed. Couldn't begin to guess how many duplicates.
  16. Well, of the dup Avengers, I've got one in 9.2 (#6) and the rest in 9.4-9.6. Even a few BA in 9.8. I need to do some scanning, though, to get them up.
  17. I've seen the local wildlife work itself into a frenzy over rule violations. Seems like noobs get a bit of an initiation.
  18. I've got 40 slabbed Avengers that are my undercopies and I'm interested in seeing if anyone is interested in trading for copies of Avengers that I do not have. Are For Trade threads allowed in the Forum Sale section?
  19. I promised to post when I got some word on if other books from the same collection I've been posting came available. A number of Tales of Suspense and Tales to Astonish came back from CGC in the 8.5 to 9.2 range. Tales to Astonish 16 came back as 9.6! I think about half the lot came back as the highest graded. The worst page quality was off-white (just one book). All the rest were off-white to white. I guess I have a lot to learn about PQ! If you are interested in where to get them, let me know and I'll send you the info (I don't want to get hammered by the forum police for trying to sell something in the wrong place).
  20. Pre-hero stuff. I particularly like the little guy straddling Droom's toenail.
  21. I'm looking forward to CGC putting you guys on staff. I like your grading style!
  22. The cover artist, Ogden Whitney, was also the artist for Herbie the Fat Fury. Ogen Whitney
