  1. Nice, nice, nice!! Where did you get this? Auction or submission or private sale? Private sale. No auction site involved....judging by all the interest, that's probably a good thing. Still paid well above what the Crippen 9.4 sold for a few years ago, but I think it was worth it when you get the book in hand. Back cover is white and near flawless. However you got it, it is a beautiful book.
  2. Wow, I would have gone mano a mano with you for that one!
  3. I'd be shocked if it doesn't go past $50k but the players in the avengers market haven't had a book this pricey to go after. Between this one and the #4 9.6 on Pedigree, we may see if there is a practical limit to what the fans are willing to spend.
  4. I can't imagine that book not going for $20k or more. $20-25,000 seems to be the norm. Now, the 9.6 WP #4 on Pedigree should be interesting.
  5. I had no access during the auction so had to place an internet bid early the morning of the auction. It was enough...barely. Thanks for not hammering harder!
  6. Won this one in the most recent Heritage auction. I love the cover.
  7. I believe you nailed it. Not positive but that certainly rings true.
  8. oops... I think I've seen this one for sale in the past.
  9. A nice solid copy, though the upgrade bug has been nagging Just thinking about all the young males wishing those were their hands when this first came out. The woman is Russ Heath's first wife, "enhanced" as he put it. Great story! So, did she approve or is that why she was the 'first' wife?

  11. This still remains my favorite thread. Korvac, can you post a picture of your JIM #1? I saw it listed in your registry set.
  12. I'd like to borrow you time transporter so I can go back and pick up some cool books, too.
  13. Congrats to Korvac Saga on having one of the three best SA sets with his super-hero TTA. Amazing stuff. Only hard part of the decision was probably whether to include his pre-heros!

  15. Don't think this has been discussed yet. Pedigree is auctioning the second Avengers #57 9.8 this year. It is from the Valparaiso Collection. This one has a sight miscut but is significantly better than the Rocky Mountain copy that CLink sold earlier. Place your bets on the final hammer price.
  16. I keep hearing how there are no exceptional copies of these books. Seems hard to believe when you look at this thread. Museum quality books right there.
  17. Stan probably meant it to have a big ugly signature across someone's face.
  18. Those should do very nicely for you, the 57 in particular should go quickly and prices have remained pretty good for that grade.
  19. When you look at the quality of the ungraded books that are around, it makes me wonder what the census will look like in 10 years.
  20. I agree. It was a really solid copy. The colors are excellent. Now it'll be the inevitable hassle to get a refund.
