  1. Here's some more. This one tied for highest grade, but I thought it was an easy 8.0
  2. Thanks, guys. The only way to go with CGC is to fast track for an extra $10.00 a book. Submitted these Feb. 20. Last batch I submitted took 4 and a half months without fast tracking. When I get a chance, I'll post more. Watching final four BB-ball right now.
  3. Just got these back from CGC today. Needless to say, I am very happy with these. Some others, I was disappointed. You win some, lose some. They seem to be all over the place with the grading. Books I thought were 8.0,8.5 were graded 7.0-7.5. Some were graded 1.0-1.5 higher than I expected.
  4. James Haack. There's a name I also haven't heard in quite awhile. I too bought numerous HG preheroes from him, it seems, around the early or mid 90s. I remember responding to his CBG ad. They were (still are) some beauties, some of which I have slabbed out over the years. That TTA 15 was quite a steal. I had just picked up an 8.5 from a Heritage auction recently, so I had my sights on the 17. I also picked up the ST 87 8.0. Went for $1308. Did I over pay for this? Not sure. Talk about picking some sweet HG's years ago. I think around 1993, a dealer friend got me into the San Diego Con dealers room the night before the opening to the public. Lo and behold, I stumble upon a fresh PH collection. I was the first to go through it. I bought all I could afford at the time. Some of these books, TTA 7 for $120.00 (graded out 9.2 highest), TTA 20 for $100.00 (graded out 9.2 highest), TOS 15 for $35.00 (graded out 8.0), JIM 68 $35.00 ( graded out 8.5), JIM 74 $35.00 (graded out 8.5), ST 95 $35.00 (graded out 9.0). I have some others from that collection being graded by CGC, as I speak. Should be sweeeeeet!
  5. I think you hit it on the head about the earlier ending times last night. I picked up the TOS 31 9.0 at $1365 and the TTA 17 9.2 for only $1399. I was shocked and elated. The TTA 11 8.0 at $1049 was about right, I thought it would take 1100-1300 to get it. I'm pretty happy with that one too.
  6. Hey, don't forget to look under the bed Sweet books!!
  7. Read the Lensmen series as a young teen, great stuff. Here are a few from my collection.
  8. One of my favorite issues of HOS. Bethlehem copy
  9. Awful quiet here. Is everyone still shell-shocked, like I am, over the prices after the HA and LINK auctions....
  10. Cannot go wrong with a Bernard Bailey cover. Basil Wolverton ain't so bad either Does it get any better than this for 1950s scifi. Well, maybe this Ditko (EC reject) classic.
  11. Here are those two Kirby covers from HOS 11 and 12. Both tough finds in HG. Issue 12 with Kirby cover and str. Check out this Kirby cover. Bethlehem copy
  12. Thanks guys. Roswell, I sure wish you would open your ST registry for viewing. I bet you have some beauties put away there. The issues from 70-92 seem very hard to get in grade. There was a great high grade raw prehero and precode collection on Comicconnect back in Nov. or Dec. 2009. This was the best bunch since then by far.
  13. You raked in a great batch of books,Hayden. I thought the bidding and final prices were brutal for these books. I only bid on needed upgrades of my raw copies. All my bids on the JIM, I needed, were blown away, especially the JIM 71. I realized if I seriously wanted to win anything, I could not be conservative. I just had to have the ST 80. One of my favorite PH covers. Also, got the ST 81,84 TOS 25 and TTA 9,14,18. As I said, brutal prices. But, can't wait to receive them!!!
  14. No, picked the TR 32 in a cash/trade deal with another collector. You are right though, the NY Con had very little Baker. I did get the Hawk 10 and the Auth.Police 29 there. Harley's prices were extreme, to say the least. He had a gorgeous TR 36 which was at least a VF or better. Priced at 700.00. Nice pick up of that lot. Another small lot with Teen Tempts 1,2 and 4 sold last Sunday.
  15. Here are some of my recent additions. The TR 32 has nearly white page quality. Small 1/2 inch upper spine tear. I have never seen this book before. Got it at the New York Con. It has 2 Baker strs., also.
  16. When is the last time you ever saw one of these? Listed as rare in Overstreet. Dated 1958 with a Jay Disbrow cover and all the artwork. Here is the back cover. Well, we are still waiting for the "Iron Man" of Rome. The anticipation is killing me.
  17. I just completed the entire run (1-46) of Rex. Only took about 10 years or so. Here are a few issues for your viewing pleasure.
  18. I haven't posted anything in awhile. Check out these two 3D issues I picked up at the Balticon. Talk about HTF and they are in beautiful shape with two glasses still attached. 3D Action dated 1954 with a Brodsky cover and artwork. 3D Western 1954 with a Brodsky cover and Colan and Hartley artwork. Also, picked these 3 gems recently.
  19. Here are some recent pickups I made. Who Is Next dated 1952 with Toth, Andru and Sekowsky art. Crime Mysteries 2 with a A.C. Hollingsworth cover
  20. Nice pick up of the MM 12. Is this the one that just sold off Ebay a week or so ago? I was not sure of that book, the image wasn't the greatest. Looked VG+ or so. Your copy appears nicer. I HAD the Bethlehem copy but sold it around 10-11 years ago. Probably would grade out a VF/VF+. Certainly wish I had kept it.
  21. Incredible copy of the ST 13. These Northford copies are a sight to behold when you have one in your hands. It boggles the mind as to how these books were kept so well preserved considering how cheap the paper stock they were printed on. Here are two copies that I picked up in December from the Connect auction. They aren't 9.4 's but still real nice. I love to pick up a high grade black cover such as this one. Tough, tough book!!
  22. Time for a bump here. It does not get much better than these 3 books for precode Atlas. Harry Anderson's cover of ST 28 has to rank as one of the most horrific covers ever.
