It looks great, congrats! As long as the Vellum is placed on a white background, I guess the translucency will be very hard to spot. Btw, I've just paid James Pascoe to make an acetate overlay (title and Marvel logos etc) for my Keron Grant Nighthawk Vellum cover, intereting how that'll turn out

I love these stories - and bought the Danish deluxe equivalent of The Complete Carl Barks Disney Library - 30 big hardcover books in total for $3k back then - Vol 1 (3 books) can be seen here: Now I've read these 6000 pages for my 8-year-old son Julius, we had a lot of fun doing that But now my 4-year-old son is starting to show some interest in such stories too - and I'm beginning to wonder, do I have to read these 6000 pages again?

You're not the only one, although I was surprised too that it went as low as it did. I picked up a Ninjak cover he did for Valiant at ECCC this year. It's also an ink on vellum piece. It's currently at the framer, and like you I'm interested to see how the mounting/framing works out and how well it holds up over time. Guess we'll see! Ninjak #12 Cover: Mike Big fan of his work. I commissioned him to do Wolverine for me. Good to read that there are some fans of Grant's great art in here The Ninjak #12 cover is simply amazing - of course it may be more cerebrally taxing than more simple and straight--forward pieces, but that's just the great thing about Grant's work, at least some of his pieces: they often make you stop and think "what going on here?". Also the art style is special, I'm not sure it looks a lot like something you've seen before (then again, there may be many artists unknown to me). I did find this Wolverine comission from Grant - it's a fantastic Wolverine piece: Maybe I should include pictures of my new OA cover and the published version: I'm out of wall space, so this cover is also a test for my new Itoya Profolio 16" x 20" - the OA on Vellum is probably 14" x 19".

And then they're here - the results you've been more eagerly anticipating than the Registry Awards - namely the Registry Point Statistics 2016 "Points needed to be in [...]" refers to the minimum number of points needed to be part of a category So really without doing much I'm finally in the top 5 % Uh-oh, still forgot the top 10 % category - you'll need at least 35,710 points to be part of that group. Top 1 % still is quite expensive if you have to pay for all the points Much like previous years, the top 50 % of all Registry members have more than 1,400 points while the remaining 50 % members have less. You'll need about 7,850 points to be in the top 25 %. Growth the last year has been slowing slightly down to about 8 % more members - compared to 11 % in 2014-2015. In raw numbers, last year the Registry gained 359 more members, in 2014-2015 it gained 464 members. Guess this'll be all for now, I'll be back in summer 2017, stay tuned!

It's summer, and although some persons may appreciate this time of year, some of us may have (or try) to keep books and art cool Just like cleaning, monitoring books and art may not be something exciting to do, but it needs to be done! And what better time to check for light exposure and temperatures than a bright sunny day So I just found the wife's Infrared thermometer (high precision, developed to measure body temp in babies) and the lux meter - and I found: So Hulk and Iron Man are cool (pun intended ) - and not exposed to much daylight - other pieces in this room get a similar amount of light, so no need to show them all In my man cave, Ka-Zar is cool too (65 F is a dream, all year I'm trying to keep temps below 70 F) And he certainly does not get burned by the summer sun: Nightwing is exposed to more daylight, still nothing to worry about, this bath in 80 lux won't ignite any vampires and is short-lasting (some conservators recommend that average light exposure should be no more than 50 lux for max. 8 hours/day - even this Nightwing cover gets less - to compare, direct sun light is typically 10,000 to 100,000 lux): Books don't need a lux meter, they are always in the dark - but good to see that Conan still is cool And some of my better books are cool too (admitted, all my CGC books are constantly monitored for temperature and humidity, I'm just checking if the other thermometers agree with the infrared thermometer - and they did ) Humidity is about 40 %, so that's fine too. Guess I can relax and enjoy the summer for now Just for reference, some experts recommend that books and art are kept at a constant 40 % humidity, 65 F and max 50 lux - and to put these 50 lux into perspective again: "Many dyes, both old and new, are faded perceptibly by 50 years of exposure to 50 lux for eight hours a day. 50 lux is not safe illumination. Thanks for a great post - you do have quite a challenge getting everything to fit and you're doing an amazing job Saying goodbye to 20k books must be a tough decision... Regarding the photo - I've always been worried when stacking more than about 20 CGC books, because the CGC holders seem fragile - I was afraid that the weight of more than 20 CGC books could damage the bottom book. So thank you for totally destroying that myth
