  1. I'm 100% positive it wasn't $400. It was a Dallas Stevens book. I can't remember the price for sure, but I believe it was around $800. He is right about the poor PQ. I passed on it also.
  2. Wow Sterling, you really stuck it to redfishing If I was you, I'd feel darn lucky. The 9.2 went for only a hundred. http://cgi.ebay.com/DON-ROSA-PEDIGREE-Ho...1QQcmdZViewItem
  3. I not downgrading Ian's accomplishment or trying to be a , I find the history of these rare books facinating. Ian seems to think that one doesn't exist yet there are a few experts here who would suggest otherwise and yet he still maintains that they were never offered for sale? How does he know that and how can he confirm that? Because a copy was missing from the DC archives? Is that enough to say it doesn't exist? I'm all ears. Just FYI, he didn't say it doesn't exist. He said it was never sold to the public through any retail outlets. I seem to recall Ian saying a few times that Paul Levitz from DC confirmed this for him. I believe that it's quite clear. Ian is saying the book doesn't exist. I still don't believe this. It won't be the first mistake to appear in Overstreet. One known copy.... then where is it My reproduction of the original artwork is the only authentic Double Action 1 around. Also I agree the book (Double Action 1) was never offered for public distribution and wouldn't count toward his set.
  4. I still don't believe this. It won't be the first mistake to appear in Overstreet. One known copy.... then where is it My reproduction of the original artwork is the only authentic Double Action 1 around. If this ashcan had a black and white cover, does it match the ghoul and the wolf cover ? I suspect Overstreet's story is real because of the details. I don't know where it is. As I've stated before there are many "lost treasures" that continue to turn up every year. To be able to suddenly produce such a unique book on demand is unrealistic. Until more information comes about both sources there will be a certain amount of doubt and mystery surrounding the book. If and when more info comes out I'm all ears. But, I think you have to much a stake here to be an objective observer.
  5. NO question, that's the toughest of the HOM dollar books
  6. Ghosts 70 or 88 is close Maybe Unexpected 139
  7. The Action 1 ashcan has a hooded guy with a knife on the cover. It also exists in color as a unused color cover for Detective 3.
  8. I'm guessing it does. The story has too much detail. I don't see how it could be a mistake. I agree I wish someone would have a picture of it. But who knows I wish we knew more about both copies.
  9. If you mean is there another book with Ian's cover, the answer is no.
  10. Yes I know, I've had one of Ian's copies in my hands. But no one I know has seen the cover of the B/W copy. So we can't compare them.
  11. Well that's not quite true. Overstreet claims a copy does exist, and was found in 1978 with 4 high grade Double Actions 2's. (See Overstreet 10.) He mentioned the book was saddle stiched. It was even listed for a while in the Overstreet with a value and sale price. It's an ashcan with a B/W cover. There is only one known copy. Ian's photocopy has been debatable. Fishler claims its a fake and Ian's source wont give any background on the "color cover". It could very well be that both copies are real. Until we know more about both copies, the subject is still debatable.
  12. Then buy his book http://www.halloweencollector.com/book/
  13. Sterling and everyone else, FYI on marlede. Marlede is the famous uber Halloween collector Mark B. Ledenbach. He wrote the book on Halloween collecting. Literally! http://www.halloweencollector.com/about/
  14. Nice stuff. I really need to upgrade my 209
  15. I've had decent luck with him, I'm guessing you'll get 9.2 at worst.
  16. On your want list Blazing Bob has the 37 you need http://www.highgradecomics.com/catalog.php?search=SEARCH_WEB_DC&letter=J-S&title_id=952&
  17. Sounds like Heritage was good for you, anything else? By the way I have to agree with you that those Rosa HOM's have been uber hot. I can't believe how much the 206 went for
  18. Its not easy to find. For some reason this one hasn't been showing up. I'm guessing its a tightly held book. I could image quite a bidding war for a true 9.4 and up.
  19. I love that cover. I've got a strong VF+ possible VF/NM. Would love to upgrade.
