  1. As has long been stated in Overstreet, the print run for Cerebus 1 is only 2,000 copies with virtually the entire print run suffering from poor printing. Apparently, Dave himself went through the entire 2,000 print run to pull out the very few copies that didn't have as much spinal defects for his own personal collection. This is why the Signature Series tends to have the higher graded copies as opposed to the Universal copies.
  2. That dirty aardvark can be the jester in H181's royal court. I find it rather funny that there's always been this long standing controversy on the boards here as to which one of these books is more valuable. Personally to me, the answer is that both are as it really depends on the specific grade that you are talking about.
  3. I wouldn’t pay extra for her Sig Although you wouldn't, I believe Sim had to pay a whole ton of money for her signature. On their divorce proceedings paper, that is.
  4. Well, that's only because I haven't bothered to send any of my copies in for grading and slabbing yet?
  5. 6 Albedo 2 How about the real toughie of the group in terms of Albedo 2, TMNT 1, etc.......................namely a Cerebus 1 in high grade?
  6. That would be AMAZING! Considering there's already 10 copies of Spidey 300 slabbed as CGC 9.9 to date so far with no doubt more to come, bidders must be totally overdosed on the CGC Kool-Aid if they do bid 6 figures on that book. Then again, nothing would really surprise me that much after seeing the Transformer 1 go for $44K which is totally loonie bin from my pint of view.
  7. Well, if you are talking about grades such as CGC 9.4 and CGC 8.0, then it should be quite obvious that Cerebus 1 is clearly more valuable than Hulk 181. If you simply go by the FMV in GoCollect for Hulk 181 in CGC 9.4 and CGC 8.0, the values listed are $11K and $4,700 respectively. If you feel that those estimated values for Hulk 181 might be out of date, then all you need is look at this just completed CL Featured Auction whereby a CGC 9.4 graded copy of Hulk 181 finished up at $13,550 last Wednesday followed by another 9.4 graded copy selling for $21,350 this past Monday, with the CGC 8.0 graded copy selling for $6,600 this past Monday. So, either way, it would appear that the Cerebus 1 is worth more than the Hulk 181 in these 2 particular grades.
  8. My, how soon we forget..............not sure why CGC continued to list it as a Back Cover Variant since this copy was graded in 2012. Either way, clearly remembered this WP copy as it had sold for an out of this galaxy record setting price of $40,500 in a CC Event Auction back in 2015: Although the price was a definite shocker back in 2015, I imagine it would be rather ho hum nowadays with seemingly more recent "common as dirt" books such as Transformers 1, NM 98, GS X-Men 1, Silver Surfer 9 also selling in this same price range as evident in this just completed CL Auction.
  9. That's because Overstreet did not correct this in his guide until his 40th Edition which came out in 2010. Prior to that, as you have correctly stated, he had always indicated a photo back cover variant for Star Trek #1. I believe CGC was simply going by what was in Overstreet when they did up their labels at that time. The question remains whether this was an oversight and mistake made by Overstreet or one of those intentional "errors" that he knowingly places into his guide for copyright purposes.
  10. For me, it has nothing to due with Hobgoblin. It's just one of the 4 or 5 issues between 200 and 300 that has the same kind of fantastic cover that I grew up falling in love with in the early 70s. 229 is another one. Amazingly, 210 happens to be another. Yeah, I simply don't see how people can collect entire runs of comic books considering how expensive they were. The only one that I have in the entire 200 Spidey run is this Spidey 238 and then it jumps all the way up to Spidey 298 right through to the end of the McFarlane run. Likewise, the only issues I have in the entire 100 Spidey run is Spidey 101, 121, 122, 129, 135, and that's about it. The Spidey's 121 and 122 were clearly the biggies back then, but definitely not so much nowadays.
  11. That 21k 9.4 is as much of an earthquake as the 40k GSXM. I can't help but to think that's going to reset the market. The sellers with bin listings up can't afford to snooze unless they're asking like 30k for 9.4s There seem to be a lot of last minute bidding (i.e. 6 bids) in the last 30 seconds of the first auction last week that finished up at only $13,550. Maybe 2 of the losers from last week's auction didn't want to miss out this time, because in the second auction last night, the bidding went up to only the $14K mark before 2 atomic bomb style bids came in during the last 20 seconds of the auction to bump it up into the $21K+ price range. Hence, probably more of an outlier than the new normal for now, unless you can see a confirming auction that takes it up to this price point on a one incremental step by step basis.
  12. I took a look at the bidding history and I believe that if this book had been listed for last week, it most likely would have gone even higher. This book was auctioned off last night on Monday when it seem that most bidders were already suffering from CL auction fatigue as most lots either had no last minute bids or just the one and done last second bid. No exception here as the winning bid came in about 11 hours prior to the end of this auction here which was very different from last week when most lots had multiple bids coming in during the last 15 seconds of the auction.
  13. Well, that definitely takes the fun and suspense out of it if you simply give us the answer right away. Seriously though, that's most definitely a big big book, and also both a key and in grade to boot. In fact, from the census, it would be one of the highest graded top copies of Supes 76 that's been graded and slabbed to date. Looks like there's a mid-grade copy coming up in this next CL Focus Auction starting March 11th, just in case you wanted a free advance look.
  14. Yes, I imagine we all would feel the same way if it's our book that the clock is winding down on. In terms of wishing and hoping that just one more bidder will step in and bump it up just before the final buzzer goes off. Oh, come on.........you can't just leave us hanging like this with bated breath since that would simply be . How about just one little hint as to your big big book that's coming up.
  15. Although we always hear about and focus our attention on the flashy headline grabbing results like the TOD 10 for $106,350; the Transformers 1 for $44K, or what have you, I think a bit of both is actually the norm for all of these auctions, whether it be CL, CC, or Heritage. Glad to hear that you did okay and I certainly don't think there was a real letdown with respect to your CGC 9.8 Eternals 1. Looks like the 2 copies went last week for $2K and $2,200 which seems to be a continuation of where this book has been going recently. Especially with the HA archives indicating that their last 4 CGC 9.8 sales from November through February had a price range of $1,560 to $2,040; with their last recorded sale being one for $1,920 on February 28th. Not sure if I would trust any numbers that I see on eBay, especially since virtually all of them would be on a Best Offer basis and not the big hyped BIN price that you see in the listing. Definitely a whole lot more than what this relatively common book was going for back in the summer. Not sure what the slightly lower grades would fetch today, but probably tempting enough that I really should get around to finding the copies which I had cherry picked off the shelves of the LCS for cover price or slightly less way way back in the day. Especially since I remember liking the Eternals enough to have picked up the entire short 19-issue run plus Annual and the usual hoarded duplicates or possibly even triplicates for the first few issues.
  16. Are you referring to the auction as a whole or just the seemingly slow Monday night action only?
  17. Wow, what a difference a week makes or it's probably just the usual Monday blues. Just went onto the CL live auction website and I must say compared to all of the action last week, seems like pretty much of a real snooze fest in comparison. Most of the lots don't seem to be seeing any last minute action at all, and if they do, only the one single bid coming in.
  18. Sadly yes, check this: https://comics.ha.com/itm/golden-age-1938-1955-/superhero/the-marvel-family-group-of-4-fawcett-publications-1946-total-4-comic-books-/a/122107-15423.s?ic2=mybidspage-lotlinks-12202013&tab=MyBids-101116 Yes, but take a look at this as even Heritage must realize how hot this market is and how fast prices are going up. Looks like the automated Heritage Make Offer to Owner feature now automatically bumps your offer price up by 50% above your auction purchase price instead of the standard 30% bump which you used to have in place. So, just imagine if you had won this raw grouping of Marvel Family books with an approximate condition guide value of $400 for the winning amount of only $1,020; you would now be in line to resell it to another Heritage member for $1,530 through their Make Offer to Owner program once somebody clicks onto that big Green button to the right.
  19. Yup, I think what I'll do instead is finally sell all my Fawcett Why, have the short players in the comic book marketplace and the GameStop mania frenzy finally made their move into our little corner of the comic book world here?
  20. We are Relevant only in the sense that we COULD AFFECT THE MARKET, but only if we sold our books. As long as we sit on them we are irrelevant to current sales. we all know that the dentist has a better copy of all the biggest keys .. but he is the poster child of my sense of an irrelevant collection because they are never coming to market. Not necessarily true because wasn't it the Dentist himself that was releasing some of those early Quality runs and early Pep runs into the marketplace a few years ago through Heritage Auctions? For sure, not his long term keepers like his Action and 'Tec runs like what everybody focuses in on when they think about his collection, but like I said, what he might view as "disposable scraps" to him. I remember buying some of these so-called loose scraps from Dave back in the day, and surprisingly or not I guess, a few of them are now in Overstreet's Top 100 with a couple more just under this level. Like I have said, maybe it's all relative as some of his worthless drek books from his personal collection would be viewed by me as priceless treasures in my own personal collection.
  21. Oh boy, good to have some company as I thought it was just me only with this particular issue. Anyways, I just figured it was something wrong with my laptop since images showed up just fine on my cell phone. Maybe it was just with their old website as I just checked on this revamped website and all of the Adventires pics are in there nice and sharp.
  22. As long term comic collectors YOU DON'T................. what you do is YOU SELL into this crazed marketplace and hopefully in time before the bubble bursts. As I had stated in one of my previous posts here: In this red hot crazed comic book marketplace, one collector's worthless drek (i.e. hopefully any of OUR BA or CA books brought at cover price) is another collector's priceless treasure (i.e. hopefully one of these deep pocketed newbie buyers willing to pay 5-figures for our former drek books). , THE MONEY, that is!!!
  23. As long as we own the books that some of these crazed buyers want, we are 100% relevant to the marketplace, especially if you are willing to part with some of the "scraps" from your long held personal collection.
  24. Love me some of that Church Fantastic 3 even though I could not afford even a fraction of the $243,000 that it sold for.
  25. So, are you saying your answer is a BIG YES to our deal here before the price shoots up even further!!! If so, you can wire the money straight into my Swiss bank account and I'll contact CL to ship the Transformers 1 directly to you then.
