  1. As a potential bidder, it's also a definite bonus that they also provide links to all other available copies of the same item that they have in their current inventory. Definitely gives you an idea as to other copies readily available and a good idea of the max price you should probably be bidding on the item in question. Not sure if this feature is just for this particular auction only, as this auction is supposedly limited only to non-consigned items from their own inventory. I can definitely see consignments drying up pretty fast if they have this same feature in place for their regular consignment auctions though. Especially since no consignor in their right mind would ever want to use an auction house that have readily available links to all other competing copies of the same item as their consigned item that bidders can simply click onto and buy immediately.
  2. Yes, most definitely a whole ton better as you can actually see everything clearly now. Definitely happy to hear that they are listening and responding accordingly.
  3. Yes, absolutely no problems to register as the page was ALREADY populated with my current tombstone information and all I had to do was to input my credit card info. Took me only about a minute to go through the whole thing.
  4. You can read, but like most of the other threads on these boards about Danny, you can add any more posts to it: This topic is now closed to further replies.
  5. Notice that he's got a big qualifier in there which should in theory keep him out of trouble with eBay: Grade: NM (Only My Opinion Please Viewers Look At My High Definition Photo’s & See For Yourself As Grading Is Very Subjective! Hence, once again, it's really all about BUYER BEWARE and conducting your own due diligence as he's clearly stating that the NM grade is only opinion and asking all bidders to look carefully at his high def photos as grading is very subjective which is 110% correct.
  6. Might not be a screw up on PGX's part as I have heard of jumps from CGC 6.5 up to CGC 9.0 on quite a few occasions before when pressing first got outed here on the boards. It was usually for books that had a noticeable crease on them such as a soft subscription crease that did not break color and hence, easily fixable through a simple press job.
  7. Very different from the old days prior to CGC when collectors use to pay a lot more attention to fugly miswrapped covers that you can see from across the convention floor, as opposed to barely percetible tiny NCB creases which you can sometimes see only by holding the book up against the light. With their undisclosed grading standards, it doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out which defects were shifted to the top of CGC's hit parade and which ones moved further down. After all, why in the world would a company want to make money on the same book only one time, when they can come up with creative ways to have customers rush to send the exact same book back in multiple times with their wallets wide open and money pouring out.
  8. Sadly, for the long time true collectors who have absolutely no interest in partaking of CGC's CPR game, this scenario here is unfortunately the new reality that we live in with 3rd party independent grading, where it's all about the money and the top and bottom lines for corporations like CCG. After all, depending upon the specific defects on a book, it's quite possible that any book could possibly take a jump by multiple increments and a book like this that's been graded initially as a CGC 9.0 graded copy could conceivably finally end up as a CGC 9.8 graded copy by the time all of its potential has been maximized. Haven't we seen this exact same scenario played out before in the past?
  9. Can we get a follow up to this post? Why not........can't hurt to give it a try at least. Danny Boy, Danny boy, little Danny boy (i.e. @Erich Kempka), where forth art thou...........can you please come out to play and enlighten us with your second ever post on the boards here?
  10. A post written last night from another thread on these boards here: I guess we'll find out how their revamped site runs tomorrow starting at noontime once this Event Auction of theirs goes live.
  11. Yeah, I sent some junk to some jerk in BC and it still hadn’t arrived yet. Yes, it seems that all of the online shipping companies are busy with volumes right through the roof right now since all of the brick & mortar retail stores are closed. Guess we should have all invested into some of these companies a few weeks ago. Especially with some of them like Amazon having to hired an additional 100,000 employees last month, followed by a further 75,000 employees this month. Definitely good for the investors as their share price has gone up by over 40%+ in just over a month to hit a new all-time high of over $2,400 per share. For all of the Canadians here, just think that a company like Shopify dropped below $500 earlier this month and is now up an astounding 89% in only a few weeks to hit a new all-time high of $900+ per share which is starting to approach Royal Bank territory to make it the most valuable company in Canada from a market cap point of view. Definitely a bit bonkers here, I would have to say though.
  12. Did you remember to sanitize them all off with disinfectant in the event of virus on the surface. Either that or wait a day or so before opening the package which what some of the experts are suggesting. 👍
  13. +1 to all. The fraud here and its criminal aspect is that the books are being misrepresented as originally owned by his father-in-law, picked from the stand and then rat-holed until now, the misrepresentation of that creating the incentive for bidders to buy "original owner books". That's no longer the generic huffing and puffing; the huckstering that typically proliferates ebay listings. Not sure what all of you guys are getting your panties in a knot about with this auction here? Especially when this is such small potatoes as compared to some of the ones that have gone through Ebay in the past before. How can anyone forget about this c(r)ock and bull story here from these 2 guys if you want to talk about true huckstering and embellishment to the tune of $3.2M dollars: If your spidey senses weren't tingling when they started to mention the cedar chest and a collector holding onto it for 30 years, then I've got a copy of Spawn 1 which I can sell to you for only a mere million dollars.
  14. +1 Yes, this is exactly the part of the description where I see the fraud being perpetrated. All of the thing about the representation of the grade is simply nothing more than a subjective opinion which is definitely not something which you can hold the seller to. especially when he might be alluding to the fact that it could be improved to a 9.4 or a 9.6 grade. After all, how many times have we seen a CGC 9.0 graded book come back as a CGC 9.4, then a CGC 9.6, and then finally into a CGC 9.8 grade or whatever?
  15. The only problem I see with this strategy is whether he stated in his auction description that the book would come back with a CGC certified grade of 9.4 or 9.6? After all, if it didn't you are basically just buying a book which the seller has graded to be in the 9.4 to 9.6 grade range based upon his opinion. Does he even mention CGC in his listing, and even if he does, I assume you must be aware that when CGC assigns a grade to a book, it is only their opinion at that point in time, and clearly states thart they themselves do not provide a guarantee on the grade. That is why I never could understand why they have the "G" (i.e. Guaranty) as part of their company name?
  16. If the one on the right is only Uncle Marvel, where is Grandpa Marvel then?
  17. Well, for those who missed out on the CL GA auction yesterday, there's always the ComicConnect Event Auction that's scheduled to go live starting on Monday: https://www.comicconnect.com/browse/auction/1?page=1 Looks like they've finally managed to get all of their auction lots sorted into proper alpha/numeric order after all this time. Not sure though if they are going to continue to have links to all other copies of the same book at the bottom of the auction lot when this goes live on Monday. Especially since this would make absolutely no sense at all to potential consignors as it basically serves only to use the consignor's book(s) to help promote the auction house's available inventory more than anything else.
  18. Why, of course I did.................apparently the only problem is so did everybody else. I've been driving around town hitting all of the supermarkets that I can and motoring down to the disinfectant and UV light bulb aisles as fast as my little feet can take me. Sad to say, but apparently there has been a run on these 2 items ever since this past Thursday for some strange reason. Sounds as though gin and lysol or scotch with a bit of lysol seems to be the go to cocktail(s) nowadays.
  19. Similarly, not all books are created equal. Since this is a $5.99 book, does it contain a lot maore pages than all of the other 9.8 graded books that you have in your collection? Just wondering since I have heard that on books that have many more pages (like the 68-page or 100-page GA books), CGC rightfully tends to be a little more forgiving on the number of acceptable defects as compared to one of those thin MA comic books.
  20. Are you referring to a mini-version of one of those "Liberate" protests that I have been seeing on the news lately? If you are indeed talking about those, you better start packing your stuff and get ready to join Mitch and I in the CGC sin bin then. Boy, it's going to be awfully hard for us to maintain our social distancing of 6 feet with so many of us crammed into that tiny cell of ours.
  21. No worries as you can simply join me in isolation in the sin bin and we can then talk about funny books all day and all night, as long as you keep your socially distant minimum 6 feet away from me.
  22. This is a lot of money for a 9.0. According to GP the high sale for 2020 is $900. Well, not if you can claim it is a 9.4 or 9.6 equivalent copy and be able to easily find readily available buyers suckers who will gladly run out and pay you almost GPA equivalent graded value for the book.
  23. Done, in the form of pondering questions...thanks Lou. Ummmm Mitch...........hate to be the bearer of bad news here, but it looks like my incriminating post is still lodged within your post here and hence, ready to dispatch your sorry arse to the sin bin.
  24. Sounds as though it was fully deserved then, and in fact, you probably got off lightly if you was trying to denigrate the good Captain's name. After all, this is the land of the free and mighty and it's only because of heroes like the good Captain who keeps it this way for all of us regular nobodies. Hence, it's absolute sacrilege and you indeed should be punished accordingly for daring to disparage the good Captain's name with your anti-patriotic talks, so as to devalue these tales of his heoric deeds on our behalf to protect the red, white, and blue.
