  1. I didn’t take it that way, and couldn’t agree more. I like those guys too Yes, I believe all of our comments here are really meant more as constructive criticism since we all want as Vinnie said; "a more positive customer experience". It's definitely healthy for the markerplace to have competition for the consumer, and in that light, a successful and customer friendly CC auction website would put it in good stead against well funded sites like Heritage and even old school sites like CL.
  2. I still remember way back in the day when these 2 classic Torchy covers was the go to books to acquire when it came to Bill Ward cover art. And yes, the Bill Ward interior artwork throughout these books was most definitely a whole lot more spicier than the rather "tame in comparison" artwork on the covers.
  3. Well, if the above All-Top 16 qualifies, then this one here by Baker should also be a sure fire winner: Definitely must be the classic Baker cover as this nicely presenting copy relative to its assigned grade managed to fetched $13,200 in a CC Auction back in 2018.
  4. Master 33 is definitely a good one when it comes to classic Raboy cover, but the one which I think really stands out and still much under appreciated and undervalued is this one here: Must be an extremely tough book to find since this was the highest graded slabbed copy that I could find and it's all the way from way back in 2003.
  5. You must mean this little beauty here from the Jon Berk Collection which managed to fetch $243,000 in a CC Event Auction a few years ago:
  6. Yes, like Suspense 3 and other truly classic cover books which have significantly higher value than their neighboring mid-run issues, here's a few more:
  7. Of course there is as I see absolutely no big problems for this book to hit 2,000 copies in CGC 9.8 grade and keep climbing even higher if there's continuing talk of a movie for this 3rd tier character.
  8. Because a lot of buyers hate any form of writing on their books, including signatures, so if it's in a blue slab you might get more bidders for the book.
  9. I understand that viewpoint. Physically scraping away a piece of the cover to obtain a different color of the grading company's label means, to me, that the hobby officially has its head so far up its own ace that it can no longer see what it's doing. Sad to say, although the introduction of the multi-colored label system implemented by CGC was done with all good intentions, as Borock himself admitted after the fact, it unfortunately resulted in the unintended consequences of demonizing or stigmatizing the restored books because it was now so much easier to target and paint them all with the same PLOD paint brush, regardless of the extent or type of restoration done to the book. As I have stated many times before in the past, this whole unfortunate situation with books being butchered just so that they can get encased with a blue label could all have been avoided in the first place if CGC had simply started off with a uni-color label system in conjunction with both a 10-point condition grading system combined with a 10-point rstoration rating system, similar to the one that Jon Berk Had proposed in an issue of CBM back in the day.
  10. Is this a typo here or do you really mean All-American 16? Well, if you are selecting an Archie 1 and passing over a Pep 22, then you are clearly being too cover-centric, as opposed to being content centric from my POV. Then again, I guess it's really a case of to each, their own.
  11. Well, how lucky for you and not too late then as I just got another spam mail from Vincent earlier this morning saying that you still have another 2 days until the end of the buisness day this coming Friday to submit your books in time for their next Event Auction. Why, you can now even take your better half out for a exotic dinner to celebrate....................oh my bad, all of the restaurants and everything else is closed during this lockdown of ours.
  12. Is the magnificent magnifying glass a hit or miss for anyone else also (besides the fact that it is a giant miss in general)? Some books it will actually magnify (slightly), and some it's just a circle floating over a picture. I have yet to find anybody that is in favor of this virtually useless magify glass of theirs as compared to the old 3-image sizing option which they used to have. The IT company or guy they hired must have been a big fan of the almost just as annoying Ebay magify glass approach which that site uses. Definitely a bit annoying, but doesn't rerally bother me that much unless they trip over their own feet and end up using this countdown clock without putting in the actual auction end date and end time when the auction goes live next Monday. If they do, that would be a total disaster as it would require constant ongoing calculation for potential bidders in order for them to figure out the actual end time for a book that they might be interested in bidding on.
  13. Well, I've always gone by what is "Ending Soonest" before in the past as it gave me an idea of what time each lot was ending. Hopefully, this current version of "Ending Soonest" is just an interim work area for them and everything will line up in alpha and numeric order once the auction goes live next Monday. If not, I think it's going to be hard for bidders to know when to check in on say the Spidey run or the Batman run if they are scattered in a haphazard way throughout the auction and ending nowhere close to each other. I guess it's just a matter of waiting a few more days to find out and for everybody's sake, let's hope they've got their act together after such a long revamp.
  14. Now that the hype of the Wonder Woman movie has come and gone, I think most collectors would value a Cap 1 more highly than an AS 8. You nailed it here with respect to the Bat 1 and that is why I have stated many times on the boards here that Batman 1 is the best overall GA book out there from a pure content point of view. Not so sure about the Pep 1 or the Archie 1, but I would definitely place Pep 22 at the top of this group of 6 books here. As for the Action's, I would place Action 13 over Action 10 from a pure cover point of view. I would probably tend to agree with you here if you are referring to already established and highly recognized key GA books. If you are referring to undervalued and under appreciated and more of a minor key, I certainly wouldn't mind a nice HG copy of Ace Comics 11 with the first comic book appearance of the Phantom since it was mentioned earlier in this post here.
  15. I agree...and sadly it is the only way to win an auction on Ebay. That's BS in 99% or more of auctions. I win stuff all the time with anchor or tracking bids. Probably true as it really depends on the types of books you are bidding on. The worst part about eBay and auctioning of comic books is the fact that the overwhelming majority of their offerings are on the BIN format asking sky high prices, instead of the traditional auction format. Even then, they don't tend to have many truly quality vintage collectible books as those generally get sent to the major auction houses where the right set of eyes are looking at them.
  16. Certainly several shills there. Or punishment bids. They look the same. That's why I would never ever waste my time with bothering to bid on an eBay auction or any other site that has a similar type of platform. The whole thing seems to be based upon you throwing in wild snipe bids at the end like this one here something like 13 bids within the final minute od the auction.
  17. Which auction house is he going to use? I can’t read the article I don't believe the article mentions which auction house. I couldn't read the article either as I am not a paid subscriber or whatever it takes. The only way I could read it was to take out my cell phone camera and snap some quick pics of the story as I refreshed the screen before it would disappear on me again. Took me quite a few times before I was able to piece the whole story together though.
  18. Instead of beating around the bush, why don't you just come straight out and tell us exactly what you think about Cap 1 here. Boy, I think you must be a real masohist and just asking for it as I think it's high time to call the King of Comics (i.e. @Mmehdy ) himself to come in and defend the good Captain's name from such blasphemous talk.
  19. I don't believe this is Richard's personal collection that he is putting onto the auction block for sale. As the article stated and per my post above, it sounds as though they are basically going to be books which they were hoping to sell at their summer comic conventions. Since there won't be any conventions this summer though, the books are simply being redirected to one of the major auction sites for sale instead. At least, that's my take from the newspaper article.
  20. Well, we are all good then if it's the one run by Huey, Dewey, & Louie:
  21. where? Definitely seems puzzling to me also, especially since they only did the "A's" to "C's" in today's CL auction if that is what the OP is referring to?
  22. I read somewhere that they asked for an additional credit extension for upfront for advanced partial payments and indicated that they got it and are still in the market to make advances on consignments. So, I assume it Ha and Richards consignment which triggered that. Don't most of the major auction houses offered advances on your consignment as an enticement for consignors to consign their books with them? I believe Richard stated on the boards here that he had no problem getting an advance from Vinnie for the Marvel Comics 1 which eventually ended up selling for $215,000: https://www.comicconnect.com/item/744183
  23. Since I don't want to see another thread get killed off here, can one of you please answer a simple question for me. Maybe it's just me being technically challenged and unable to navigate their new auction platform, but how in the world can guys you find anything here? For example, when I click onto Page 3 of their auction, this is what I see: https://www.comicconnect.com/browse/session/480?page=3 I see an ASM 14 followed by an Action 19, then a Best Comics #1 followed by an Avengers 1 which is then follwed by a copy of Batman 18. To top things off, none of these books have any images attached to them except for the Spidey 14, so I can't even zoom in onto the books using their magnificant magify glass if I wanted to. Of course, I see lots of scanned images for other competing copies of books like Avengers 1 which they have available for sale when I click onto the Avengers 1 lot that states "No Image Available" and scroll to the bottom. Well, hopefully the Mods are in their beds sound asleep by now and I'll get an answer to my question here before they come in and kill another thread.
  24. How sure are you that it's going to be Heritage? The last time Richard consign something to an auction house to raise some funds for some hurricane damage to his store(s), I believe it was the Twilight copy of Marvel Comics #1 which he toook to CC to auction off a couple of years ago.
  25. What month is the MP 19 book from or is it also just a November dated issue, similar to the DD 115? Not sure if I would pay any kind of premium for this additional notation or why CGC would even include it since it came out the same month as Hulk 181. Now from my own personal point of view, if it was an ad for a book that came out in a prior month to Hulk 181, then that would be a much better reason for including the ad notation.
