  1. Fugured it's time to give this old thread a bump now that we've this huge all-time classic Nedor key is finally hitting the marketplace: For all you Nedor aficionados, any guesses as to the final price for this copy or if it will have a chance of getting close to 6 figures if not more? Especially since this appears to be an extremely HTF book that rarely ever hits the marketplace. Even moreso in terms of finding this book in grade, with only 14 universal graded copies and the next 2 closest copies being a CGC 8.0 graded copy followed by a CGC 6.5 graded copy.
  2. If you are serious and not trying to be sarcastic with your question here, then spending money on slabbed books might not be the best thing for your bank account.
  3. Thanks for asking. The pleasure was all mine!!! Now, that Cap 1 which you have there is a definite keeper from any collector's point of view. Now that's a perfect grade to have for a Cap 3 in order to keep the price reasonable for what I consider to be the second most valuable Cap book out there.
  4. Well, well, well.................this book here definitely looks very enticing to me: Especially since ANY copy of this seemingly HTF key GA book hardly ever makes its way into the marketplace, let alone the Church copy.
  5. I believe I might also have a small short run of the early issues in grade for this book here. Any idea if they are worth anything or not even worth wasting my time trying to think of where I might have stored them? I imagine all of them must be quite common, including even the first prints.
  6. Well, with only one more week to go until its release, I think I am starting to lean towards this one here as the least worst of another bad round of covers.
  7. A 9.6 AF15 did it too, Clark. Makes me wonder how close that CGC 9.4 graded copy of AA 16 would have done if Veryzl hadn't changed his mind about selling it?
  8. It's simple...........buy the book, not the label. You really need to post pics of both books since the grades are so close together. Especially since the books might have been graded at different time periods and the 6.0 graded copy might actually present a lot nicer than the 6.5 graded copy.
  9. Oh wow, is Steve back working again with the good guys wearing the white hats and our savior once again? Must spend more time on the boards here since I am always so far behind on the latest news. Especially since the word from most of the boardies here made it sound like Steve couldn't grade a book if his life depended upon it when he was with the bad guys in the black hats across the street.
  10. Yes but you are forgetting my motto buy high sell low Or you could adopt a slightly altered version of Warren Buffet's motto: The stock market, or the vintage collectible comic book in our case here, is a device for transferring money from the impatient to the patient.
  11. The devil won. The angel never even had a chance. I went big on another book. So big, it made all my previous books jealous and now they won’t talk to me Well, if you went big on another book, it could really be a case of the angel winning in the end by the time it's all said and done. It could just be a case of the devil winning the battle for now, with the angel winning the war in the end.
  12. Unless they are the key first issues in these grades, I would go with either CC or CL. Especially since the usual higher fees for Heritage would probably not be offset by higher prices (if any at all) for these more common books like SA Marvel books.
  13. DONT DO IT Is this what you tried to tell yourself earlier this year? So, did the devil on your shoulder win in the end or was it hopefully the angel on your other shoulder?
  14. Yeah, I don’t go into gold on a regular basis. It makes me want to buy books. +1 I totally understand as I also get that exact same feeeling when I see some of the gorgeous books being posted there. Yet at the same time, when I see some of the final auction prices being realized on some of these books, it makes me think that it might just be time to sell as opposed to trying to buy into this red hot marketplace.
  15. It's quite obvious you have not been paying attention to all of the books that Richard has been posting because it is so much more than just Timely's.
  16. Big congrats on purchasing one of the very few DC books with an absolutely gorgeous and classic cover. Definitely one of the best covers in the entire AA and GL runs, with your copy here being a beautifully presenting one to boot.
  17. Party Pooper. Are you referring to the graded copy residing in a CGC 9.9 slab that might not qualify to be anywhere close to that grade anymore?
  18. maybe this'll help? Are you sure we are talking about the same book here? I just pulled the CGC population census stats for Wolverine #35 from January of 1991 and it indicates a total of 6 copies in CGC 9.8 condition, 13 copies in CGC 9.6 condition, and 14 copies in CGC 9.4 condition. Total universal population count of 46 copies with only 3 of them in lower than CGC 9.0 graded condition. With numbers like these and a top of guide valuation of only $5 for what is basically a non-key mid run "nothing" book, it makes me wonder if the overwhelming majority of collectors who don't really follow the graded market would simply never even give a thought to slabbing a book like this.
  19. Learn something new every day! Can you fill me in more, I see the gpa for 9.8 is over $1000 but is there something more to it? Nothing more than setting one of those CGC 9.8 traps and seeing if you can snare one of those CGC label collectors in time for your little din din. Shouldn't be too hard to find as they seem to be trolling all over the place and once you do, grab on tight and never ever let go until you squeeze every single last dollar out of them. Most of all, while he's happily giving you his $15K as fast as he can for that CGC 9.8 graded copy of Iron Man 30, never ever let him know that it could also have been his for only a quarter if he had searched around in the 4 for a dollar box and gave some extra special TLC and tighty tight squeezable hugs to the book.
  20. With all of the hype being thrown around on the MCU related characters, I am actually surprised that the speculators haven't really bothered to chase down the now seeingly long forgotten Kree-Skull War storyline from Avengers 89-97. Especially since most of those issues also sport the beautiful Adams cover and interior artwork. I still remember back in the day long long ago when the big squarebound Avengers 93 was considered to be one of the go to must BA keys to acquire. Sadly, not the case anymore as so many other BA books have now surpassed it in terms of popularity and demand.
  21. I believe I was reading a thread on the boards here a few weeks ago and they had a link to a website which compiled had access to all of the auction results including the ones for the CL auctions. I can't remember which thread it was, but maybe somebody else saw this same thread and can post a link to the website. I never bothered to give it a try since it was asking for a lot of information, but aparently it works and does also include the CL auction results.
  22. You sold it to E. Roberts ? Getting all of the big whales confused here as I thought Dave also owned one of the other early pre-Robin Allentown 'Tec books besides just his Allentown copy of Detective Comics #27?
  23. Truer words have never been spoken and definitely one that my better half does not seem to understand. Isn't she the one who always wants you to sell off your comics, but you've always refused to because you're afraid prices will rise further? Well, being a long term comic book collector who wants to hold onto my books as long as possible, that's probably the rationale I gave her so that I can continue to hold onto my books. Her point of view is that I should sell them all as soon as possible since she believes nobody in their right mind would ever spend any real money buying comic books, plus her point of view that nothing goes up forever. Thank God I got Overstreet to prove her wrong so far with his ever slowly upward moving average approach to valuation. I guess it also doesn't hurt to selectively point out certain auction results to her every now and then, while ignoring others at the same time of course.
  24. The reason most investors lose money (not just in comics, but many types of assets) is not because of fear, but because of greed. You don't always have to take every single last dollar off the table. Truer words have never been spoken and definitely one that my better half does not seem to understand. I guess that's why you live in the posh and swanky high end seaside Stanley section of Hong Kong while the rest of the regular people live in the way over crowded sections of HK.
  25. Yes, which means the sweet little wifey knew the exact value of the books before she went and did the nasty deed. You mean a hard-on? I knew it!!! Maybe the little wifey wasn't as sweet and innocent as first thought. Maybe it's a case of her old man's amazing fantasy not being able to get her spidey sense tingling anymore. After all, a million big ones could get her a much younger and harder one which might fulfill her amazing fantasy 15 times a night. All kidding aside, since her husband was an avid life long collector and she was astute and loving enough to buy him a copy of Wonder Woman #1 for his first anniverasy gift, I am quite sure she's on the ball and knows that these books would have substantial value.
