  1. Hey Allan; Sorry to hear about your loss here and best of luck in terms of catching the thief and for you to get all of your books back. Any chance that this sideways looking book was yours and for sale at your booth:
  2. Oh, never mind my previous post up above..............................just noticed these two posts from you. Big time congrats to you on your sale of these two books here as I just wish I have your sense of luck and timing when it comes to my turn.
  3. Well, with the slightly higher fees that Heritage charges, it probably brings the difference of 11.7% before fees between the 2 auction houses down much closer to an acceptable margin of error. Especially when the differences could be attributed to only 2 or 3 unexpected results either way with the two auction houses.
  4. I just so wish that this was actually true, and no doubt, my better half wishes even much more so that this was true. All kidding aside, since my vintage GA purchasing was limited to a very short time period from late '88 to mid '96 before it came to a practical dead stop with only drips and drabs after that, I highly doubt my GA collection could fill one long box, let alone two long boxes stuffed into the corner of a tiny broom closet.
  5. Although I would tend to agree with you here, it seems kind of sad that this key first appearance issue now seems to have been passed by Wonderworld 7 in this classic cover centric marketplace that we currently find ourselves in nowadays.
  6. Yep, the torn jagged edge along the bottom is just the perfect complement and sure adds to the overall cover image itself. Now, those now so in vogue "skeleton" hands and fingers are what surely adds to the dollar value of this book and makes it more than worth the full 4X condition guide value that you had to pay for your copy here.
  7. A book could be written about all the issues with that collection. Clearly being out of the loop back then, what were some of the major issues with this More Fun Collection because I certainly didn't have any issues with the copy of Wings which I got from Bill? Thought I might also have gotten my one and only Rangers book from this collection from Bill, but I guess not since I don't habe a picture of the certificate that came with the Wings.
  8. Oh, I remember this collection coming out and ordering a nice copy of a late Wings with what is now recognized as a classic Lubbers GGA cover from Bill at the time. Unfortunately for Bill, the More Fun collection came out at a time (probably around 1996) which was seen as the end of that short but big GA bubble that ran sky high from 1994 through to the early part of 1996. Bill probably could have made a lot more money from the collection if it had come out a year or even a few months earlier.
  9. Well, one's a CGC 2.5 and the other's a CGC 5.0............hmmmm............maybe the size of the holes also plays a factor in the final grade. The holes are clearly visible on the cover image of the Cindy 37, but not so visible on the busy cover image of the Terrors of the Jungle 20.
  10. I'm on my way! Already on the way to the airport to pick you up and my better half already has the spare bedroom made up for you. Treasures abound await us or maybe just toxic putrid garbage.
  11. As long as you agree to come up and help me to look for the darned thing because I have absolutely zero idea where I would even start since I haven't seen it or even come across it for decades now. Maybe it was all just a dream that I had back then and not a memory of an actual event.
  12. haha- I was admiring that 113 too. def a very cool looking low grade book. I wonder what other books that person had in their 3 ring binder? That's actually an interesting question since I don't know how CGC would handle 3-ring binder holes when it comes to grading. Just wondering since I remember picking up a copy of Superman 8 from a young kid at a local con decades ago who was there with his mother and trying to sell the book to some of the dealers there. After not having any success, I took a look at the book and since it looked half decent except for the 3 holes going through the entire book, figured it was okay for the $100 or whatever he was asking for it. Especially since he also seem like a nice kid who just wanted to sell the book, but not having any luck doing so. Not sure where it would be now, since I thought it was pretty neat to get such an early Supes book as I was not yet a GA collector at the time, but always figured it was pretty much worthless with the 3 holes goimg right throughout the entire book. That's the good thing about being a long term collector, in the sense that time tends to take care of most of your purchasing mistakes.
  13. Definitely more up with the times as I DO have one of those newfangled cell phones (i.e. an iPhone 6) and my better half has an iPhone 12 which she complains about every single day wishing that she could get her 6 back instead of the 12 that the kids gave her for Christmas the other year. Now, as for my PC at home which has all of my ongoing worksheets, documents, and the one which I am using right now and for pretty much everything else, that indeed might be a completely different story there.
  14. Copying pictures from auction websites such as HA, CC, or CL is just that.................nice and simple copy and then paste. Copying pictures from your camera to a computer................definitely NOT the same thing, let alone trying to copy it to a another platform.
  15. I agree. It seemed like it belonged in the 100k club at the time (at least given the sorts of lesser seeming books that were joining in that parade at the time) and was one of the few disappointments of the auction at 60k imo. Agree 110% with you that whoever got the Promise copy of Suspense 8 got it for a steal of a deal. Especially when you consider that it was a CGC 9.2 graded copy with the next highest graded much further down at only CGC 7.5. The single highest graded copy of a L.B. Cole all-time classic cover for only $60K, considering all of the other silly money being paid for PCH books lately in much lesser grades. If only I could afford it. No idea about the grade except I know that Chuck had it listed as a NM+ copy in his Mile High catalog. The one time that I did see it was when it was sitting on the top shelf inside a glass enclosed mahogoney amoire display cabinet with the Church copy of Mask 1 right beside it during the Diamond Int'l Galleries grand opening. Absolutely no need to worry about dull colors here as even from a distance, the colors were just glowing as if the book had just come right off the printing press!!
  16. I couldn't agree more Are you two sure about this, because word on the street was that it was 2 boardies (i.e. jimbo and Courageius Cat) that were in heat for this book and were in a big cat fight for it and took it all the way up to the final $3,960 winning price?
  17. For comparison purposes, was the auction commission fees the same for both as the key for the consignor is the net they receive in the end?
  18. Oh happy day.................and for those unlucky bidders who feel they might have missed there chance or could not open their wallets wide enough for the $43.2K River City copy of Weird Mysteries 4, looks like you;ve got another chance to atone for your transgression later today: https://comics.ha.com/itm/golden-age-1938-1955-/horror/weird-mysteries-4-gillmor-1953-cgc-gd-vg-30-off-white-to-white-pages/a/122314-11207.s?ic16=ViewItem-BrowseTabs-Auction-Open-BrowseAlsoViewed-012417 Still sitting there at a hammer bid of only $4.5K for now, or if you are on a tight budget, you can try for this one here at a hammer bid of only $3.4K: https://comics.ha.com/itm/golden-age-1938-1955-/horror/suspense-comics-8-continental-magazines-1945-cgc-vg-35-off-white-to-white-pages/a/122314-11180.s?ic16=ViewItem-Auction-Open-AlsoViewed-081514&tab=BrowseAlsoViewed-012417 Actually, surprised that the only high grade copy of this L.B. Cole all-time classic spider cover buy a long shot is the Promise Collection copy. My thinking is that if it ever came back to market on a second go-round here, it would be probably one of the few Promise retread winners considering how well the Promise copy of Mask 1 did on its second go round.
  19. Does it matter? You're never going to sell your books anyways. And as the old saying goes......................."never say never".
  20. Yeah, but its existence is already known so it doesn't count as new to market anymore. At the rate it's going, we'll all probably be long gone to that big comic shop in the sky by the time the Chinatown Collection does come to market.
  21. Well, looks like the CGC 6.5 graded copy did a bit better yesterday at $552 as compared to last month's 5.5 at only $360, but still way behind the EXACT SAME CGC 5.5 graded copy that had sold for $3,960 back in October of 2022 which I must say is totally kind of , unless the first guy thought he was bidding on the Promise Collection copy back then which he clearly was not: https://comics.ha.com/itm/golden-age-1938-1955-/kaanga-comics-8-fiction-house-1951-cgc-fn-65-off-white-to-white-pages/a/7339-94117.s?ic4=ListView-ShortDescription-071515
  22. Oh, now I see it after taking a closer look....................It's another one of these skull covers that the crazed FOMO buyers of today will be more than happy to empty out their bank accounts for. Oh, crappers.................does that mean my two non-skull Church Doc Savage books are STILL as worthless as ever. Or is that a skeleton or a decapitated crushed skull I see hiding there in the shadows of my now invaluable Doc Savage books?
  23. You mean this little "classic cover" beauty here , but then it does have the start of the Doc Savage (who TF????) series in this issue here: https://comics.ha.com/itm/golden-age-1938-1955-/superhero/shadow-comics-v3-10-mile-high-pedigree-street-and-smith-1944-cgc-nm-96-white-pages/a/7339-94164.s?ic16=ViewItem-BrowseTabs-Auction-Archive-ThisAuction-120115# Does this mean that I've finally got a chance to break even on my two Church copies of the early Doc Savage issues after having them sit here collecting dust for some 30+ long years.
  24. Pre-Unity Valiants in 9.6 and 9.8 get decent prices. Assuming you bought off the newsstand, even after slabbing costs you'd probably make money. What are you, an income tax auditor contracting out your services to the tax department now that you are retired?
