  1. Whoa, I've been looking for these two - nice score! As always, a collector with impeccable taste you can always spot the cream of the crop instantly. That copy of FPS 7 looks like the best of the bunch and a true real toughie to find in half decent condition.
  2. Tough call my friend but my money is on the Tec (it is after all a higher grade + ped - would have been cool battle of 2 5.0s) +2 In complete agreement with Peter's points here. The only additional one that I would make is that 'Tec 27's in this type of condition have certainly not been as available in the marketplace recently as the Action 1 where we have seen a few copies available over the past few years.
  3. Well, the graders aren't supposed to know because I assumed the old label would be removed upon receipt as the graders are supposed to grade only the boook that is in front of them at that point in time. This would explain in part why books can be regraded differently upon resubmission as it is hard to ensure consistency in grading, especially over extended periods of time when there may have been subtle but obvious changes to their unpublished grading standards.
  4. Not to get into it! but on GPA there is only 3 sales ALL TIME that are higher that where this book is right now. Also it has matched and exceeded all other sales from the time you mentioned. I will say this, it is definitely a good sign when a book is able to sell for increasing prices across all condition grade levels and even more so, if they can achieve these rising prices for restored copies. To me, that's a sign of a true investment quality collectible, as opposed to a book that is only able to sell at the highest graded levels only and yet pretty much unable to sell for anything in lower than that nosebleed condition level.
  5. Yes, but unfortunately definitely not a double or even a match (so far) when compared to some of the nosebleed prices prior to 2013.
  6. Now, this is a more grade specific statement with which I would have no problem agreeing with.
  7. bought mine for 11k 2 years ago.... Wasn't it running at something like double that price or possibly even more than that for a 9.8 graded copy over a decade ago?
  8. Although this statement would appear to be generally accurate, I do not believe it is correct when it comes to the 9.8 and higher graded copies of this book.
  9. Well, it must be contagious then since it sounds as though I have the same disease as you.
  10. I thought trimming in and of itself is NOT considered to be restoration by CGC. Especailly since it is not listed as one of the restoration activities in their Restoration Grading Scale on their website: https://www.cgccomics.com/news/viewarticle.aspx?IDArticle=4084 I believe CGC views trimming more akin to "destruction" of a book and hence, will downgrade accordingly (i.e. very severly) for it, although it will still be denoted as such on the blue label. Of course, if the trimming was done in conjunction with other restoration activities which is generally the case, the book would then receive a purple label. Well, at least that's my understanding of the situation with respect to standalone trimming.
  11. I believe it has been now graded and slabbed by CGC (same book). Any idea what the assigned grade was when the book was initially graded by the other company?
  12. Any idea if these 2 Mystery Men books are being resold by Ritter using the Heritage platform or is the buyer of these 2 books trying to do a quick flip to make some money on them: https://comics.ha.com/itm/golden-age-1938-1955-/mystery-men-comics-6-mile-high-pedigree-fox-1940-cgc-nm-96-off-white-to-white-pages/a/7177-91115.s?ic4=GalleryView-Thumbnail-071515 https://comics.ha.com/itm/golden-age-1938-1955-/mystery-men-comics-11-fox-1940-cgc-nm-92-off-white-pages/a/7177-91116.s?ic4=GalleryView-ShortDescription-071515 All I can say is that if it is a buyer trying to do a quick flip for profit, I am not sure how much luck he's going to have considering that both of these books had been sitting on Ritter's WorldWide site at relative nosebleed prices for several months: http://www.wwcomics.com/comic_search_results.asp?txtsearchParamType=ANY&prodnameplural=mystery+men&issue=Issue+%23 With the MM 6 and the MM 11 apparently "selling" for $22K and $7,250 respectively, I don't know how much more profit there is still left in these 2 copies here. Especially since they were both purchased (by Ritter, I would assume) for something much less at price points of $14K+ and $3,900 respectively from the CC Event Auctions within just the past several months. Doesn't anybody ever hold onto their books anymore or do they simply request that they be forwarded straight to the next auction house for immediate resale.
  13. Isnt it CT scraped off ...? Probably a former IGB 9.6 graded copy with the resto and color touch now removed.
  14. I thought a person with your sense of adventure would have rotated yourself into something more fun and daring like the crypto currency market.
  15. You guys are getting soft... so easily convinced. Yes indeed........now that we know what SC22 looks like! We'll be sure to keep a lookout for him at the cons then.
  16. No, these kids were definitely collectors. They obviously have their fingers on the pulse of the market and they say spidey is out. Well, can you really blame them after that absolutely horrid Spidey movie that came out last year. I kept seeing bits and pieces of it on my TV while I was on my Australian cruise and though it was one of those silly low budget kiddish Marvel made movies from the 80's and 90's that had gone straight to video upon completion. Absolutely surprised that it was the new high budget one that was released just last year.
  17. Well, out here on the left coast, house prices have finally started to sell at slightly less than asking prices again. In fact, I received my property tax assessment last month and was ecstatic that the value of my house had dropped by something like 3% after so many consecutive years of double digit increases. Unfortunately, they've now taken the price of condos and townhouses which my kids were hoping to buy into since houses are no longer within reach anymore, and jacked those up by over 40% in comparison to last year. And this is even with the countless brand new condo towers they are building in almost every major transportation intersection within the city.
  18. Sounds like a contradiction here if he there like everybody else, and yet he just walked in without waiting in line.
  19. Was there a copy of the rare hardcover version of the Big Little Mother Goose Book in the collection?
  20. Don't we all: https://comics.ha.com/itm/golden-age-1938-1955-/national-comics-7-quality-1941-cgc-vf-85-white-pages/p/7177-170004.s?ic4=GalleryView-Thumbnail-071515 It has certainly been a long time since a beautiful copy of this much under appreciated Lou Fine classic cover book has hit the open marketplace. Will definitely be interesting to see where this copy hammers out at.
  21. Link to a previous thread that we had on the boards here for this movie: https://www.cgccomics.com/boards/topic/418825-professor-marston-the-wonder-women-102717/?tab=comments#comment-9954162 Yes indeed.....The true story of the women behind the man behind the woman. A perfect slogan for this movie and my favorite poster of the bunch:
  22. Now, now, I believe you really should show some respect to the host of this website here, namely CGC itself, and not talk about the competitors here. Especially since CGC (i.e. Weed.TO) still managed to gain a further 5.5%+ today in what was generally a healthy down day for the majority of the MJ market. Combine this with a 17%+ gain for yesterday and a quadruple since October and CGC is looking pretty good. Actually, depending upon the number of shares and if you were enough of a risk taker (not so lucky me, unfortunately ) to have brought into all 4 of these companies in October or early November, I am sure you would have enough to buy multiple copies of AF 15's from just your profits. That is, unless you decide to place it into a relatively new and still cheap up and comer like Cannabis Wheaton which appears to be one of the more popular go to reinvestment moves in the MJ marketplace right now. Similar to the hype of super hero movies on comic book prices and what with FOMO running at max speed right now, if you hold them until just prior to legalization date, you might even have enough to go for a high grade copy of AF 15 or a half decent copy of Action 1 or 'Tec 27 in some of the upcoming auctions later this year. Not so sure about the short term impact after legalization date though, when real world issues such as harvest rates, production deadlines, continuing black market competition, etc. comes into play, as opposed to the current pie in the sky thinking of seemingly 100% perfect harvest rates, low cost production on a per gram basis, unlimited demand to fuel sales, etc. Yet, if you are willing to hold long term through the dips and valleys of the sure to be roller coaster ride over the next several years, and lucky enough to have placed your bets on the right horses here, you could end up being able to afford all 3 of these books in terms of an Action 1, 'Tec 27, and an AF 15. After all, hasn't the equity marketplace shown us that's it's always good to have first mover advantage when it comes to a new and emerging industry.
  23. +1 In terms of Raboy covers from my own personal point of view, nothing can really beat those classic covers from his early Master run in the 20's and 30's. Only problem is that they must be locked away in long held private collections as you very seldom ever see them available in the marketplace, especially in grade.
  24. Why? Well, it's rather simple as you would only be cannibalizing your own sales with multiple copies of the same book being made available at the same time.
  25. Someone is unloading ... Not necessarily the case here as there are multiple copies of the same issues here. Maybe just a case of consignors now finally realizing that CC appears to be the go to site for pre-Robin 'Tec books, as based upon the past record results which they have been able to obtain on behalf of their clients for this key subset of in-demand books.
