  1. Steve; I have always loved the colors on the MM 6, and from what I can see, the colors on your Larson copy looks like it's still dripping wet as though its fresh right off the printing press. Any idea why CGC gave it only a grade of VF+ 8.5 when the Larson Master List indicates that it should be a clean NM/M copy without any noted flaws at all?
  2. I have the p-p-p-p-patience of a saint whose name begins with Z. I am never in a hurry either. The last time I got my orders from CL and HA, I asked them to keep pushing off shipping my orders for almost 3 years before I finally got around to asking them to send it out to me. That was pretty much 7 years ago since it was back in 2010. I don't believe they would hold orders any more, as they would probably try to charge you a storage fee nowadays.
  3. Well, that's just P-P-P-P-P-Perfect. That means for everybody else that ignored CC's nasty email demanding immediate payment and waited until Friday to see if we would win anything else, we are out of luck. Now, our orders are stuck behind the hundreds of others who were probably waiting for the whole auction to end before making payment.
  4. I would rather people get informed rather than misinformed- though I am also not trying to sell a 9.8 copy either. Actually, I was only kidding and just wondering where he's gone to or if he's taken off for the hills already. Seriously though, the best "investment" advice I can give with respect to comic books besides buying books that you love, is to buy books where the underlying value is in the actual book itself regardless of the grade, as opposed to buying books where the value is coming primarily from the grade only.
  5. Well, at least for one of the board members here, it sounds as though they received their order last week already:
  6. Any recent movement of note on this one? I wonder how folks in 1937 reacted to this cover... They probably refused to pick one up and that is why it is so rare. Due to the relatively repulsive nature of the front cover image, how about if I help you to cut down on your loss by offering you 10X cover price for the book. Especially when I heard that this was the only lot that did not receive a single bid at all in the recent CC auction of Jon Berk's books.
  7. Another cover that I actually love as it gives that 3D appearance with the Manhunter just popping right out from the cover. Also, always have been a fan of cover with the bold green and red colors. Still remember picking this cover as one of my Top 5 GA covers of all time back in CBM's survey during the 90's. Guess nobody else cared for this cover since I was the only person to have selected this cover. Likewise, I was also the only person to have selected the covers for either 'Tec 31 or Punch 12 as one of my Top 5 at the time. Amazing how collectors minds can changed over time as I believe both 'Tec 31 and Punch 12 finished in the Top 4 in Heritage's recent survey of their Top 40 Golden Age covers of all time.
  8. The only book with both the entire Axis and the top golden age DC heroes. Are you guys trying to create an artificial demand for this Hitler cover where there is in actual fact, no real demand for these comical World's Finest covers.
  9. +1 Most definitely as there are still a lot of collectors who cherry picked these ones right off the shelves of the LCS's and probably still have them sitting in their private collections.
  10. I imagine you must be the exception here as most collectors like to speculate by buying books when they are hot and at record prices. They usually say that they'll wait for prices to drop before buying, but usually never follow through on this strategy. It looks like you are which is good for you.
  11. Well, since you asked, it looks like my choices have not really changed from when CBM asked collectors to list their Top 5 covers. Besides the Superman 14 which is believe is a fantastic choice, I would also go with either Punch 12 or All-American 61 with the dark and moody Solomon Grundy cover. Since Sqeggs picked a few of the Captain marvel Jr. covers, the one that I would go for would be the classic V for Victory cover from Master Comics 27.
  12. Well, it looks like our dark and negative predictions and opinions for Ms. Marvel 1 as an potential investment going forward has probably scared off the original poster here. I believe we should be much more careful with our bedside manners when dealing with some of these new board members when they ask for our opinion on books which really have nothing left but a lot of downside, as opposed to a very little short-term upside left in them.
  13. I guess there's no such passionate love for the rest of the first 10 issues after WF 3? Does the Hitler, Mussolini, and Tojo cover do anything at all for WF 9 since the CC Jon Berk auction indicated a lot of love for the Hitler covers?
  14. Darn, I guess that makes a lot more sense than the stone cold dead early WF's books finally catching some heat and getting a breath of life back in them.
  15. That's such a cool book! Colors are amazing ? is there a church book of this? Chuck's MH catalogue indicates that there is a NM+ copy of this book in the Edgar Church collection. It's quite possible that it could be the CGC 9.4 graded copy that shows up in their census report. Apparently a very tough book to find as there are only 4 graded unrestored copies date, along with 1 Qualified copy. Apparently this is Jon's favorite copy in the entire AMF run and the reason why he is kept his copy instead of letting it go in his big auction last week.
  16. Any guesses as to whether this apparent softening mood towards Conserved and Restored books, as evident by the premiums to guide and in some cases even multiples paid for the truly HTF books in the recent CC auction for the Jon Berk books, is going to hold going forward? Or was this just an one-off due to hype and quality of the books that were coming to market?
  17. Either that or to pay for all of the books they may have picked up from the Jon Berk Collection in the recent CC auction.
  18. Now, that's most definitely an understatement as a check of the Heritage archives indicates that's more than they were ever able to get for a copy of World's Finest #3. In fact, all of the copies they have had all sold for substantial and huge discounts to guide. Of course, it looks like all of those sales were from 10+years ago. The last couple of sales since 2014 did a bit better in terms of selling for over guide, but nothing like this $1,855 figure here. Must be an outlier of a sale or there's something happening with the early World's Finest market which I am clearly not aware of.
  19. Wow........where in the world did you managed to dig this little beauty up from? Very well done!!!
  20. Looks like somebody must be trying to cash in on the success popularity of the Wonder Woman movie. Especially when they have a near complete run of the WW comics right from issue #1 through to issue #218 plus some on the newer WW series available in the next CC Event auction apparently scheduled for this coming August / September.
  21. That's an amazing copy, Rick! FYI, I have the Larson. Pretty darn nice - comparable to your copy. I believe Bunky also has a nice copy (unless this is the same one?). Wow, that's a really nice looking sharp copy of a super tough book. Sounds as though all 3 of you guys have really nice copies.
  22. Sold a well presenting 3.0 with no mc for 17k at heroes con last week What's the current going rate on an AF 15 on a Price per Point basis since they seem to be bouncing all over the place? Either that or the range is very wide? I guess it really depends on how they present relative to their assigned grade, especially when it comes to copies with or without Marvel chipping.
  23. They notified me that they had it a couple weeks ago and it was there if you did a search for it but the images were only added a couple days ago. I guess you must be one of their high rollers that they contact with respect to their bigger books! Actually, this is a good sign for collectors who consign their books to CC, since it indicates that they are proactive in terms of contacting potential customers that might be interested in bidding on certain books which they might otherwise not notice. Was this the only book they contacted you on or were their some other juicy little tidbits in there since most of us, especially me, are probably way too lazy to plow through almost 1,600 listings to see if there is anything of interest there?
  24. Um... actually it will still be $8 admission. But who knows when next year will be seeing a increase in admission? Well, that's good to know for this year at least.
