  1. Woah just had a modern submission from late September come out of ccs. Wasn't expecting that was figuring on March/April
  2. Yeah I imagine this goes on as well in the private sector but not to the same degree. The companies I've worked for have been very bottom line driven thus controlling expenses is a big deal.
  3. I believe this to be the same throughout all levels of government. 20 or so years ago my ex wife worked for the state government and at the end of every fiscal year they would replace computers, printers, desks or whatever to spend all their budget so it wouldn't be cut for the next year. Works the opposite how a business would run.
  4. So normally people ask my wife what to get me and she says ebay gift cards which of course go to comics. So I guess I mentioned something awhile back about needing some clothes so much to my chagrin I'm sitting here with $500 in kohl's gift cards and $0 in ebay gift cards 😭
  5. Man seems like they are picking up the pace. Had a small modern submission That I mailed last Thursday get delivered Monday scanned in the system Tuesday and go to sfg Wednesday. This is by far the quickest I've had a submission progress.
  6. Modern submission Delivered 11/9 Received 11/16 Shipped 11/21 👍
  7. Submission delivered Monday showed up in the confirm package delivery function today.
  8. I'm with you. I bought a press a few weeks ago and have been experimenting ever since. I just didn't see I was getting much from ccs for the cost as I still got dinged for creases on several books. I'll put together a small submission with books I've worked on soon to test the results.
  9. Got my first ccs submission back a month or so ago the grades came back a mixed bag but I was mostly happy. But I really didn't see that ccs did much considering the couple with grader notes mentioned creasing. One submission basically pays for a press so I bought one and am currently boning up on the process to learn how to do it myself.
  10. This thread has been an interesting read. I collected comics as a kid then again in the early to mid 90s. I just started again sometime last year and had no idea I was looking at prices in the middle of a Bull run. Luckily I only added a few lower priced semi key books(not asm 300 but a nice asm 316 instead) and mostly concentrated on getting my comics graded. granted I also didn't realize how long ccs took so some that made sense valuewise to grade then don't so much now but oh well.
  11. Damn Lou Arcades, Comic books and D&D was pretty much my life from say 1980-83. I think I discovered girls in 84 all downhill from there.
  12. My modern submission with pressing from 1/27 just went to GEI
  13. Lol yeah I got 3 dogs, Hair is everywhere at my house. I think I'm in the clear my pubes are mostly gray these days.
  14. Yeah I was thinking it would keep them from going 9.8 which makes it not worth sending in. Thanks for responding.
  15. Hello I have multiple copies of beavis and butthead 1 I bought new that have been bagged and boarded ever since. They are in perfect shape except they all have the same tiny mark on the cover. I was wondering if anyone could tell me what it is and how it would affect the grade? It's near the spine below the black line.
  16. Kind of begs the question if my pristine but otherwise unremarkable mostly X titles that I bought from a literal "newsstand" in the food court at the mall in the mid 90s would be worth taking a flier on a prescreen submission fishing for 9.8s?
  17. So this touches on a question I have. Do we know the numbers of newsstand vs direct by year factoring in newsstands not sold? I get the concept that generally direct would likely be more abundant in higher grades but am curious what the actual numbers say about rarity.
  18. I guess it depends on which charector will be more popular in the future? That being said I wouldn't dismiss x-men 266 out of hand. But mp15 is a very attractive book I may look to add that one myself.
  19. You know you collect what you like but there is the reality that with the money you put into it you don't want things that depreciate over time. I have a friend whose dad collects those old die cast tractors but was looking to start selling them off. He was discouraged prices had gone down alot so was going to wait. I told him probably should start selling now as I'm guessing the people that collect those are a rapidly aging demographic and I doubt there are many younger collectors of such things. Comics on the other hand does have younger collectors coming into the hobby so hopefully we don't go the way of die cast tractors or God forbid Stamps.
  20. Yeah actually when my submission from Jan moved to ccs in process a couple of weeks ago and the Oct one still said received, I called to inquire because I was worried the Oct one got bypassed somehow. They told me ccs was working on mid Oct submissions at the time and mine would come up soon. It actually got graded and shipped shortly thereafter idk if calling helped but it certainly didn't hurt.
  21. Yeah just shipped today so pretty quick once out of ccs 👍
  22. Finally my first submission to cgc from last October has made it out of ccs and is now in GEI status. How long does it usually stay at this status before it moves to quality control?
