  1. Wasn't Clancy Brown the actor that played Brother Justin from HBO's "Carnivale" series? That guy has one hell of a voice. I knew he was working on an animated Conan movie with Ron Perlman, but didn't realize his involvement in Goon.
  2. Thanks to shiverbones for an outstanding Hellboy CGC book that was quickly and safely shipped, along with a freebie gorgeous limited edition post card signed by Matt. The level of care shown is very much appreciated, Matt!
  3. S.M., don't sweat it. What condition are you looking for, as I have multiple copies on this book?
  4. seriously? So I am new to the CGC slabs but not collecting are the prices for slabs always that much higher then price guide? ComicsPriceguide.com has 9.8 at $56. I really am interested in selling it but don't want to rip anyone off and not over charge as well. Yup, a board member paid that for a copy on eBay.
  5. For a 9.8, you are going to do very well for yourself. There are only 5 CGC 9.8 copies in the census right now, 17 CGC 9.6s, and 39 CGC 9.4s. As far as rates out there, I'll leave that up to whomever has access to that data.
  6. When I get it back from CGC i was thinking about selling it Oh really?
  7. Morning William. I am glad you said that as #3 has been tough to find in grades above 8.0 condition. You have definitely been very lucky. An incredible collection!! (worship)
  8. Yup, it is The Realm #4, which had the very first Deadworld story, "Black Sabbath." http://www.garyreed.net/Deadworld/DeadworldBitsPieces.htm Wonder how many collectors remember that B&W series and how key #4 is?
  9. Seriously? I had never heard that before that The Crow appeared in AH. Good to know! Didn't Deadworld 1st appear in The Realm? I think it was issue 4 that has a backup story, but it has been a long time.
  10. William, I had a feeling you were holding onto an amazing stash when we exchanged PMs about your love of The Crow. Simply amazing! Thanks for sharing the photo.
  11. Agreed! I won't discuss this any further as it isn't going to bring value to the board.
  12. Dick, it was the wrong thing to do looking back on the situation, as it was done out of the heat of the moment. This is the only time I've ever had a situation with this glue across the case, and with all the recent scam activity, and never seeing any bad feedback on sales from Rich, I even sent him a PM asking if he bought this from someone.
  13. Appreciate the logical suggestion, but with all the name-calling and pile diving, you may have missed where I mentioned calling CGC the Monday after I received the book and speaking with Gemma. They do not take notes on defects is what I was told on Copper-Modern books - just the tally of what the graders determined was the final condition. And it was on that call where I was told CGC does not use any glue/bonding material on their cases. Just pressure to seal the two pieces of the case together.
  14. Rich, actually, I've had MANY dealings with sellers on here and never received a CGC with that material at the bottom going all the way across. That is what through me off. You can see where it bubbles up under the left-hand corner by the post, which then has this large buildup of what appears to be glue right next to it, and then continues on from there. Now you calling me a pain in the azz, screwhead, and all the other professional names just shows how off-the-wall you can get, but that's okay. Your feelings are hurt, so you want to lash out - go ahead. And THAT book is not coming back a CGC SS 9.8, but you should be overjoyed with the 9.6 it should receive as with the two stress lines along the spine and the large rub across the bottom corner. This is where it didn't match your "flawless" description, and made me think I was looking at two different books. Between that provided description and the bonding material across the bottom, this just didn't look right. And after two years buying or submitting books resulting in hundreds of CGC books, not one of those cases ever arrived with that material across the bottom. Not a smudge, not the tiniest of buildup of plastic that gives the appearance of glue - a stream that starts to the far left in a large buildup, and continues on across. If this is something new for CGC, then the perception built led to the blowup, and this is the ONLY TIME I have ever run into this.
  15. David, I agreed with Mac that his suggestion is right. I appreciate the logical guidance. I mean that! Something about this book did not come across right, which set me on edge. I would have handled this privately throughout if not for that large stream of glue across the bottom. If people cannot understand after seeing a case like this how it can make you act quicker than you would like, then that's their take on things. I respect that. But I would have handled this differently - honestly - if not for that glue and then seeing the book. That's the motivators right there.
  16. Thank you so much to mazman77 for a fantastic shipment of raw books that were safely packaged, and quickly delivered. Appreciate the level of care shown Anthony!
  17. I thought I had you figured out as just someone that misunderstood my good intentions, but then you post something goofy like this. Like you said me to once, "Don't insult my intelligence." That statement was you clearly bringing childish hurt feelings to the discussion for no good reason. And I am not looking to bring a fight to you. You brought that here.
  18. Valid points! Agreed. Between seeing the shape of the bottom of the case and wanting this resolved quickly, I definitely acted out of frustration. But the garbage coming out of Joey is just someone jumping onboard because we had a difference over communication that I totally let go. Appears he didn't. Whatever on that one.
  19. I understand it appears as impatience to those not impacted, and respect your summary, though some of how you generalized this is not in the right order. I contacted Rich first the day after receiving the book, pointed out this large glue area across the bottom of the case - not a smudge - and see he reads the PM, but throughout the day never responds. Then I called CGC to ask if this was common in their process. I didn't come on the forum and point this out ahead of time because I wanted to run it by Rich and CGC first. It was all a matter of lack of communication at points, which was summarized in-detail a few posts back. Summarizing it the way you did would just be leading down the path of trying to state there was little to no issue. That was not the case. Think about this from the buyer's perspective, and how it would appear in a first transaction with a seller.
  20. I see you've been brewing over this for a little while now Joey, where I blew off that historic situation as just a difference of opinion. Whatever! brewing Keep going! It looks like something that happened a few months ago has been sitting in your "to do" list for some time now. Very childish, but whatever!
  21. Rich, between the long delay in mailing the book, seeing glue across the bottom, and the book not matching your Marketeering message of "Not sure how it didn't get a 9.8," it all added up to a perception that didn't appear right. You want to name call - go ahead. Get it out. But a lack of quick communication added to this situation.
  22. I see you've been brewing over this for a little while now Joey, where I blew off that historic situation as just a difference of opinion. Whatever!
  23. Look, it is sad. But it is also sad when I PMd Rich the day after I received the book, pointed out what I found, he READ the PM, and didn't respond. In Rich's mind, he may have thought it was just a common defect. But then when I called CGC Monday and sent a note to Rich what Gemma stated, that is when I received a response back via PM. Let's not confuse that fact as Rich stating we had steady communications is a confusion on his part. Seeing a seller read a note like that and never got back within the day sends the wrong signals.
