  1. Hi I have just asked someone else about this. Mike
  2. Hi @Homeboy32 Let me check with management regarding this and get back to you. Mike
  3. Hi You are required to make 1 post, which I just approved before you can send a PM. Mike
  4. Well, it could be. However, I believe I would have to manually set this person's post count. I don't mind doing this.
  5. So, what do I do with all of the people that are making their first post a WTB post? I guess the best answer would be to: Approve, move out of public view and notify the person of our policy for the WTB forum. (the reason for approval is they will then be able to post normally, and not have to wait for another approval.)
  6. Anyhow, the poll is showing we do not need one. It ends May 30th.
  7. Yes, sorry about that. Unless I'm misunderstanding you, it sort of invalidates the proposal, doesn't it. Well, our members that have over 50 posts are still protected as much as I currently can. My proposal would give new members the same forum we had for 20 years. It would not have the protection I put in place a year or so ago for our current forum.
  8. They make them in various forums. Modern Age, Bronze age ect... This is a good question, and I am looking for feedback regarding this. I started out moving their post to the WTB section if it was a new thread. Then, I would send them a PM stating I did so and people may contact them if they had what they were looking for, and explaining about the minimum 50 post requirement. If it was in another thread, I would approve the post, quickly move it out of public view, and send them a notice explaining the 50 post minimum rule. I suppose I could move it to the WTB section, edit the title and still send them a PM.
  9. Sorry I missed this earlier. Yes, the WTB forum is not visible to users until they reach 50 posts. This is due to scammers making a legitimate first post (I changed the settings requiring approval of the first post, and 0 post users can no longer send PM's). After doing so, they would head to the want to buy section, send a PM to the person that has the WTB thread, and offer the forum member a book that they do not own. Thus, trying to scam them with a picture of a book that they have swiped off from the internet. Since I changed the settings where a first post had to be approved, and not allowing people under 50 posts to have access, I have not received 1 complaint regarding someone trying to scam a forum member in the manner I posted above. I was debating on whether or not a sub forum for WTB posts should be created. The reason being, is there is a fair amount of users making their first post as a WTB post.
  10. It really isn't that hard to make 50 legitimate posts. However, I will not allow a new user to spend 10 minutes posting emojis just to hit 50. If they are caught, their post count will be reset to 1.
  11. @MattM CS mentioned this in the Ask CGC section. I am not sure if there is an opt out option. Maybe Matt can verify this. Comics with not genuine or unverifiable autographs will be encapsulated with the CGC Universal blue label (the label and grader notes will identify the not-genuine or unverifiable autograph) or the CGC Signature Series label (the label and grader notes will identify the not-genuine or unverifiable autograph).
  12. Unfortunately, there doesn't seem to be a way to do this. Here's a few screenshots. I could create a separate group for 49 posts or less and check see and read but, the permissions shown in the 3rd screenshot will still prevent them from seeing the forum. Also, I do not think the system would be able to distinguish how many posts user has within that group and incorporate it into the permissions.
  13. CCG and JSA will provide a seamless solution for autograph collectors to have their items authenticated, graded and encapsulated by the world’s top experts. Certified Collectibles Group® (CCG®), the leader in authenticating and grading collectibles, is excited to announce that it has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire James Spence Authentication® (JSA®), the leader in autograph authentication. The combination of CCG and JSA will provide collectors and dealers with a seamless solution to have autographed collectibles authenticated, graded and encapsulated by the world’s top experts. The mission of CCG is to empower collectors with services that ignite passion, create value and build community. Since 1987, its iconic brands — NGC®, PMG®, CGC® and ASG® — have certified more than 90 million coins, banknotes, comic books, magazines, trading card games, sports cards, video games, home video, stamps and related collectibles. In 2021, CCG became a Blackstone portfolio company (NYSE: BX). JSA was founded in 2005 by James Spence, Jr., a giant in the world of autograph and memorabilia collecting. In the last two decades, JSA has certified millions of autographs and in the process has built the world’s largest autograph database of nearly 1 million images encompassing virtually every known person — from Thomas Jefferson to Taylor Swift, Lou Gehrig to Little League stars. JSA uses this extraordinary database alongside deep expertise and state-of-the-art equipment to maintain unparalleled accuracy in autograph authentication. In addition, JSA’s experts frequent shows and interact closely with collectors, dealers and auction houses, further defining the JSA name as being synonymous with trust and accessibility. James J. Spence, Jr. and James J. Spence III will remain at JSA’s helm after the transaction closes, and Mark Pepitone, a JSA co-owner and an industry expert in his own right, will serve as Senior Advisor to the company. The Spences, the JSA brand and their expert team will continue to provide the same world-class authentication services for autographs, with CCG enabling JSA to offer expanded services to collectors and dealers, such as grading and encapsulation, and to better serve collectors worldwide. “CCG and JSA are the perfect match, with a shared passion for collectibles along with an unwavering commitment to expertise and integrity,” said Steven R. Eichenbaum, CEO of the Certified Collectibles Group. “I could not be more pleased with the addition of JSA and the Spences to the CCG family, and I think collectors will love the simplicity and scope of our combined services.” The acquisition of JSA is CCG’s answer to the countless collectors and dealers who have asked to have their autographed collectibles authenticated and then graded and encapsulated. Although CCG pioneered witnessed authentication of autographs through its popular CGC Signature Series service, it has never offered full authentication and grading services for collectibles with unwitnessed autographs. JSA has a particularly strong reputation in sports collectibles, a market that is an important focus for CCG. With JSA, CCG will significantly upgrade its services for collectors of sports, autographs and memorabilia through additional expertise, increased show attendance and other efforts. In April, collectors of autographed comic books, magazines, sports cards, trading card games (TCGs) and non-sports cards will benefit from a seamless submission experience where they can use a single online form to submit their collectibles for JSA autograph authentication and CGC grading and encapsulation. More services and enhancements will be announced in the months ahead. “This is the ideal next chapter in JSA’s history. CCG’s mission and vision are aligned with our own, and we are excited to see what the company’s extensive experience and resources can do for autograph authentication and collecting,” shared James J. Spence, Jr. and Mark Pepitone. “This combination is a true testament to the outstanding work of the entire JSA team, whose efforts have made JSA the world’s most trusted name in autograph authentication,” they added. JSA and CCG will operate independently for another few weeks while the companies work behind-the-scenes to integrate. Instructions on how to submit autographed comics, magazines and cards will be posted soon. For more information, check out our FAQs. FAQs When can I submit my comics and magazines with autographs for JSA authentication and CGC Comics grading and encapsulation? We expect to start accepting autographed comics and magazines for combined JSA and CGC certification in April. An announcement will be made when these services are available. When can I submit my cards with autographs for JSA authentication and CGC Cards grading and encapsulation? We expect to start accepting autographed trading card games (TCGs), sports cards and non-sports cards for combined JSA and CGC certification in April. An announcement will be made when these services are available. What is the difference between JSA autograph authentication and CGC Signature Series? JSA authenticates autographs that were not signed in the presence of an authorized witness, using the world’s largest autograph exemplar database of approximately 1 million files, unmatched expertise and state-of-the-art technology. With CGC Signature Series, collectibles are signed in the presence of an authorized CGC witness and then immediately submitted to CGC for grading and encapsulation. In other words, JSA applies to unwitnessed signatures and CGC Signatures Series applies to witnessed signatures. What do I do with comics, magazines and cards with autographs that have been encapsulated with a CGC Qualified Grade green label? We will offer a service for autographed collectibles that are already encapsulated in the CGC Qualified Grade green label to be recertified by JSA and CGC. An announcement will be made when this service is available. What do I do with comics, magazines and cards that have received a JSA Letter of Authenticity (LOA) or Basic Certification? We will offer a service for JSA-authenticated comics, magazines and cards to be recertified and encapsulated by JSA and CGC. An announcement will be made when this service is available. How much will it cost to have my comics, magazines and cards authenticated by JSA and then graded and encapsulated by CGC? We will announce pricing in April when we make these combined services available. Our goal is to offer a superior service at simple, transparent and affordable prices. Will my CGC paid member benefits apply to JSA services? CGC Associate and Premium members will receive a 10% discount on combined JSA and CGC certification, and CGC Elite members will receive a 20% discount on combined JSA and CGC certification. These discounts do not apply to JSA-only services, however. What about submitting other autographed collectibles like video games, home video, baseballs, and toys? Our initial integration will target comics, magazines and cards. Once this is completed, we will work to develop combined JSA and CGC certification services for other collectibles and release these services on a rolling basis as they are ready. Announcements will be made when these services are available. In the meantime, all autographed collectibles can still be submitted for JSA autograph authentication. Will CGC and JSA services be offered together at shows? CGC and JSA are working to provide a combined show experience where collectors and dealers can seamlessly submit for CGC and JSA services. More details will be announced in April when the companies begin to accept comics, magazines and cards for combined JSA and CGC certification. Will CCG’s international offices offer JSA services? When we begin offering combined JSA and CGC certification (expected in April), CCG’s office in London, UK, will accept comics, TCGs, sports cards and non-sports cards for this service. CCG’s office in Munich, Germany, will accept TCGs, sports cards and non-sports cards. Initially, combined JSA and CGC certification will not be offered in CCG’s Shanghai and Hong Kong, China, offices. Look for more details to be announced as CCG and JSA expand their services.
  14. Hi I am seeing several WTB posts from users making their first post. Does anyone else think there is a need for a newbie WTB section for low post count users? There are users who do not post much at all, and I am sure they would appreciate having this forum. What do you think?
  15. I'll chime in on this. Yes, we did change the minimum age from 16 to 18 years old. Here is what is written in the terms of use regarding nudity. Before posting this, I will share my view. Full frontal nudity may be going too far. If it is done in a tasteful manner, or is at a distance and really doesn't reveal all, it will probably pass. Nude images: Given that this is a comic book collecting forum, some leeway for actual comic imagery is provided, more so than non-comic related imagery. Some nudity is allowed when it is comic related and done in a tasteful manner. However, there are many comics that are quite explicit and aren't allowed to be posted here.
  16. Hi Label errors can be sent to us anytime. Here is the wording to our Mechanical error policy. There are two types of Mechanical Errors: Holder defects, which may be returned by the original submitter within 14 days of the submitter’s receipt of the collectible. Note: If you are submitting through an CGC Official Submission Center or Authorized Dealer, please contact them to make a return, or contact CGC Customer Service directly. Label defects, which may be returned by anyone at any time.
  17. Hi Generally, it takes a week after receiving a package before it gets opened and logged into our system. Mike
  18. It is my understanding that you can submit a combined CGC and JSA certification at a CGC booth. However, it you only want a JSA authentication, you will have to go to a JSA booth. Currently we do not offer a JSA certification only. That is why you have to go to a JSA booth for that. Can I submit my comic for JSA autograph authentication only? Autographed comics must be submitted for combined CGC and JSA certification services. The autograph on the comic will be authenticated by JSA and then seamlessly transferred to CGC for grading and encapsulation.
  19. Hi I just communicated with the Customer Service Director regarding this. Here is what it covers. Sometimes it doesn’t apply to CCS automatically. If it didn’t catch it, we can contact accounting and have them apply it.
  20. When in doubt summon CGC Mike. He doesn't just moderate this forum, he also advocates to the best of his ability for us when there's problems. This may take a little time but, I believe we can accommodate. The database specialist is still out and a very busy person. If I don't hear anything by end of day on Monday, I will contact other team members. Also, the census updates once a week. I believe everything that has shipped by Friday afternoon will show up on Wednesday. I am not sure if a change shows up immediately or not. If we can get it changed in the census, we can then move forward with getting the notation on the label fixed.
  21. I will speak with our specialist. If we can change the census to origin and 1st app, we can then look into getting the notation fixed on your book.
  22. Ok, I can ask the census be changed. Does your slab list the origin of Mister Atom?
