The case is irrelevant when it gets to CGC, the real question is the book and the label that comes with it. Sometimes I dont even send in the case when I need a reholder to save on weight costs. I smash it and just send the inner well and the label.

The video still proves it was clearly tampered with. The scammer from what is known so far only profited from CGC's lack or basic protocols at the office. Not because they switch out the book and CGC never touch the book. They don't need a Brand New slab (slight enhancement sure), they more so just need a CGC employee to check and open the book at Reholdering/ME to actually make sure it is the same book. You know make sure the book actually has a MVS or Mark Jewelers Insert in there. You can fix this issue in 5 minutes with just a pair of working eyes and someone who can follow basic protocols. You can just look up the graders notes as well for FREE at all times.

Please show us all how you can do this. This generation CGC case has been out for almost 9 years now, but now all of sudden its the easy process to swap out books. Ummm no No video has been produced yet that shows a perfect example of what you are so confident is happening.

Most Youtubers will go doom and gloom, but end their videos with "I am sure CGC will do the right thing and restore confidence in the hobby." Because without CGC they wont get future clicks.

I would bet you will be seeing a video response from them sometime early in the new year.

I mean the guy (Rick) did a great job, and I am not speaking negative of his effort because I fully understand his videos are to help make others be aware. So kudos for that, and I am sure if he tried with the older CGC holders he would have even more success. My issue here is some people here are convinced that the holder is easy to switch out books and that is just moronic. Agreed. I mean we all have no idea why this happened and wasnt caught, but literately this is an easy fix right at the source. Just basic common sense measures would have prevented all off this right away. So since CGC is now aware of it I am assuming the process will be under tighter practices going forward. Best I can come with up. The people saying the case is easy switch out books, and is affecting thousands of books is where I know their thinking caps are not on tight enough.

For sure, but that literally is an easy button at CGC to fix in 5 minutes by just having whomever deals with ME or reholder's have a fail safe process in place. Something was obviously not happening and I sure now going forward it will. I mean every year that CGC has been open any reholder/ME of a HULK #181 the employee should be checking the book real quick for the MVS stamp, same for Mark Jewelers inserts. That is where CGC is to blame for sure.

Also for some the hobby is over and nothing will be the same again.

Still waiting on this easy to do process to crack out where I cant tell. That is obvious tampering. The older generation of slabs, especially the first generation were way easier than that. Is there a better video posted anywhere? That's an 0-1

So you want CGC to stop grading all new submissions of comics for maybe a year or so? In that year of R&D CGC can lay off employees to save money, while also having graders for free re-grade 7-8 million graded comics, and then when the new cases come all those books get reholdered for FREE before any new CGC grading can start again? Then when they reopen have a backlog that would make the COVID TaT's look like same day TaT. Like that? Yeah for sure thats what CGC is going to do......

More like a light rain shower. Thousands of books more than likely were not affected. Most people dont have the money to just pay for those submissions. Just 100 moderns books per month every month would cost a submitter 30k per year. You are giving too many people credit that they have the $ capital and skill to do what the scammer did. Most people dont hence your doomsday scenario isnt going to be a reality.

Totally agree. People here are thinking CGC is going shutdown till this is done are just naive. At CGC its business as usual on Tuesday, with some working on this scam and finding a solution.

Same with the Ewert scandal. Just a drop in the bucket. Most CGC 9.8 slabs are in fact not worth the cost of the actual submission itself. If people in this hobby actually knew what they were doing CGC could lay off 50-75% of their workforce. Bad CGC submissions in fact do employ many people so their mistakes do benefit others job security so I guess that is good news.
